Earth Day 2011 Freebies: Disney Store Tote Bag

Every year I have found Earth Day to bring about the best freebies and the best coupons.  This year is looking fantastic to me already.  You might want to make a point of checking in with My Frugal Adventures on Friday because I expect we will see some nice coupons from organic/green companies that don’t normally issue coupons.

Here is the first of several great freebies- The Disney Store is offering a free reusable tote bag with Mickey on the front on Earth Day (Friday 22nd.)You just need to take in 5 plastic shopping bags for recycling and you can trade those for this Mickey Tote!

There is no purchase necessary and this is while supplies last.  If you can’t make it in the morning you might call before you head out just to confirm they still have bags available.

If I remember correctly, last year they had baseball hats for Earth Day.  I didn’t go to this event but if any of you did, do you have any feedback?  I am not sure how many bags they will have per store but this could be a great alternative to an Easter basket.  My step-mom uses these totes instead of paper sacks for giving gifts.  This would be very practical for a teacher gift or for birthday parties or even a baby shower!

(Thanks Frugal Reality)

A friend and I took our kids last year. There wasn’t a problem getting the hats (and they were nice), just be aware that it’s one per person. That was a little hard having two little boys that couldn’t really share a hat! The bag will be much easier! 🙂

I went for the hat last year – I was there in the morning with no lines or anything and they must have had a pretty good number because the lady offered me one for each of my sons.

I called to check my local store they are limiting it one to a PERSON. and they will have 200. I think I might pop by in the am since I need to return something @ the mall. I figure less people in the AM?

I took my girls last year and had no problems getting each of them a hat. It was super cute, and they have worn it a lot, including during our trip to Disney. We’re excited for the bags this year because we always tote around our reusable bags. 🙂

Definitely going to get these, they are super cute! Think if I just bring 5 bags per kid (I have 3) they’ll let us each get a bag? My kids are people, too.

@ Emily – I like your train of thought – “My kids are people, too.” It’s very true! 🙂

    Like your name, too. 😉

Well, today they were aliens…but most days they’re people! 😉

Do you find yourself turning to look when someone is getting scolded in the store? “Emily! Don’t touch that!” Was a much less common name when I was a kid than it is now. 🙂

@emily: nice try but no cigar. 😉 the disney store i called said one will be given out. that’s it. no ifs ands or but. and the limit is 200, I think they want to make sure everyone gets a fair shot. I plan on giving a bunch of my plastic bags I have in the house (they said we could give as much as we want, even if its over 5) but you couldn’t get more than one. now I wonder what happens if you do a repeat visit? in the same day?

I got lucky. My store ran out of the Mickey bags and they allowed customers to choose from their other reusable bags. They had everything from Toy Story to Princesses to Perry the Platypus! We got a very cute Minnie bag for the kiddo.
