Starting March 27th, Target has a fantastic deal on dog food.
They have 20lb bags priced at $10.99 and there is a $5 gift card back when you buy 2 bags.
There are also $3 off coupons available so this works out to a fantastic deal:
Buy 2 at $10.99
Use (2) $3/1 printable
or Use $3/1 Pedigree Food for Dogs, exp. 4-17-11 (RP 03/06/11)
pay $15.98 and get a $5 gift card back.
So the total is $10.98 for 40lbs or .27/lb
You can still get 3.5lb bags for $1 after coupon, which makes it .28/lb.
*There will be deals on other brands of dog foods too but I wanted to let you know about this one so you can hold onto those $3 coupons.

FANTASTIC price – normally I would stock UP on these (Usually buy 5-6 bags every sale, this is the best sale I’ve seen ) – so for anyone who uses Pedigree, this is the lowest price per lb I have ever seen.
However… recently one of my dogs have developed a bit of an allergy and it may be food related – I researched Pedigree and per a non-biased website, they rate dog food by quality – 1 star to 5 stars. Pedigree was rated 1 star and they even commented in the review “Wowโฆ what a collection of synthetic chemicals and agricultural waste. Judging by its ingredient quality alone, Pedigree Dog Food looks like a particularly low-grade product.” – def. a dog food which will contribute to obesity – it’s mostly corn, chicken byproducts (backbones, gristle), chemically altered fat, and artificial coloring – which is only used to make the food look good to us (your dog doesn’t care what it looks like) so I’ve committed to moving up the star chain to at least a 3 star food. I love my dogs dearly and don’t want to pay for cheap food now and expensive vet bills later.

You are a good sent angel right now! I have a ton of those coupons and am so low to dog food. This sale is truly a blessing! Thank you. You have no idea how happy I am right now ๐

Kristin- you are correct this is not a very high quality of dog food. I do want to say though that for people on a tight budget, just because you buy this food it doesn’t mean you don’t love your pets ๐ We all do the best we can. I know when my hubs and I were both laid off this is what we bought for Milo and I just took extra care that he got more exercise and no table scraps. Now that we have a little more room in the budget I will buy Iams which is also going to be on sale.
So you certainly didn’t put anyone down I just know from last time I posted Pedigree deals there were some not so nice comments and I want to make sure no one is putting someone else down on MFA.

Hi Charlene – I agree with you 100% and much of what you said didn’t even cross my mind. I would never ever suggest someone doesn’t love their dog – I’m not on a tight budget and I’ve been feeding this to them for 3 years now! My mother (who is broke as you know what) loves her pets more than anyone I know but there is no way she can afford more – and I’m even hesitant to tell her about what I found out because she’ll make cuts in places that she shouldn’t be making cuts in – And like I said, for anyone who does purchase this – STOCK UP NOW!!!!
However, I thought it was a pretty decent food (like most consumers might think)- but after doing some research I found out these things about it which is prompting me to change over, as much as I would love to go out and stock up on this sale- I can’t say I can afford $50 a bag food, but we are able to improve their food.
In short, I just wanted to put the information out there that this price is incredible – however wanted to inform others (well, people like me) who may be able to afford more but can’t resist a good deal, that this food does not promote healthy growth and essential nutrients – and will likely cost us a lot of money at the vet in the end.
Iams is a better choice than Pedigree – on the review site some Iams are given 2 stars and others are given 3 stars – the best rated was the Iams Healthy Naturals (Dry) Food (3 stars). You might give that a try ๐
Thanks Charlene!

That dogfood has kept my 12 & 15 yr old dogs healthy still so it can’t be THAT bad!!!!
