Do you need internet access on your phone to use these or just text messaging?
Kathy says
Do you have to have a smart phone to get these coupons or can you get them via text message?
Carla M says
I finally used one of these yesterday and it wouldn’t scan. The cashier said that they never do and I had to read the whole big ol’ number to her.
Katie says
Does your phone need to be able to accept pictures? Or just texts? I haven’t tried registering yet because I’m afraid they send it in a data form my plan doesn’t support. Thanks for posting this!
Charlene says
Well the actual coupon is sent via barcode. So I think this feature is only for people with smart phones. You get a barcode just like what is pictured above so if your phone can’t display that I don’t see how the coupons would work.

I used to get these and then for some reason they stopped. I don’t have a Smartphone, but I typed the URL into my web browser and it brought up the page and then I printed it. The cashier scanned that barcode, and it worked fine. I should probably try to sign up again.
Charlene says
Elizabeth- I am not following how you did that? Is there a way people without smart phones can get the coupons?
Elizabeth says
Charlene, I don’t know how the text appears on smartphones, but on mine it had all words and instead of the smartphone barcode/box image thing, it had an http:// web address. So, I typed that in, my browser pulled up the page, and then I printed a copy of the webpage. It had a regular barcode on it, instead of the smartphone barcode.

It’s a tad involved, but here’s what I did:
1.) Signed my regular cell up for mobile coupons.
2.) Forwarded the text message with the link to the coupon to my ipod. (There’s a free ap called TextFree that lets you text to and from your iPod.)
3.) Clicked the link in the text and opened the barcode on my iPod browser.
4.) Highlighted the barcode and message and pasted it into an email in the mail ap.
5.) Emailed to myself.
6.) Opened email in mail ap.
7.) Viola! The barcode is safe and sound in my email and I don’t have to be connected to the web to view it at Target.
