If you want to donate to the disaster relief efforts for the tragic Earthquake in Japan and the Tsunami in the Pacific you can do so on the Red Cross Relief site here.
You can also text REDCROSS to 90999 and a $10 donation will be sent to the Red Cross. Your $10 will appear on your next cell phone bill.
If you haven’t checked the news lately, you can find out more on CNN.com. We live in California so this hits really close to home for us. If you can possibly spare the $10 donation I know the Red Cross will make excellent use of the funds.
If you have any friends or family in Japan you can email the state department: [email protected] or you can use a special site that Google has created to help locate people.
Here are a few other donation sites that CNN has recommended:
AmeriCares
Usually with devastation like this donations go up to the areas effected by the disaster and other charities tend to see declines in donations. So this would be an excellent weekend to do some spring cleaning and get together as many donation items as you can for animal shelters, food pantries and other great organizations in your community.

I’m in Crescent City, CA, and we’ve had tsunami surges all day. It’s a sad day.
