The Amazon deal of the day today is a Rival Vacuum Sealer marked down from $49.99 to $24.99.

Here is the product description from Amazon:

  • Easy-to-use vacuum food sealer locks in freshness and flavor
  • Includes Bag Starter Kit and works with Seal-a-Meal® & FoodSaver® Heat Seal Bags & Rolls
  • Easy Press/Hold & Release System
  • Hands-free and seal indicator lights
  • Vacuum Trough catches overflow liquids and has a dishwasher safe drip tray with Microban antimicrobial protection

Overall it seems to have mixed reviews with people complaining that it makes too much noise.  I know I have a really fancy food sealer that was a gift and it makes a ton of noise so I think that might just come with the territory.

You can head over to Amazon to have a look!

This needs special bags to use, right? Does the cost of the bags weigh out the benefit of sealing food longer?

yeah! I just got mine and I used my $20 GC i purchased from Living Social a couple days ago, so mine only cost me $14.99!!! This will be so much better than using ziplock storage bags for all the meat & other stuff I stock up on and save in the freezer! I am going to get so much use out of this thing!!! this made my day… I am really excited 🙂

We have this one and it’s noisy, but I think you’re right – it comes with the territory. We have no complaints about it. The Rival brand bags are about 1/2 the price of the Foodsaver brand. They are thinner material, but they seem to work just as well for what we’ve used them for (large batches of chili, soup, etc. that we can’t finish, as well as garden produce such as green beans, apples, and sweetcorn!).

I had the $20 giftcard that I got for $10, and was wondering what I should buy with it. Also had a $5 card from Swagbucks.

I can’t wait to try it out! I’ve been buying the Ziplock brand sealable bags, but it just seems like the seals break all the time on the bags.

I have one of these and hate it. It is so finicky. Sometimes it vacuums and sometimes it doesn’t. The bags are expensive. Costco is the best deal we could find.
