American Express Small Business Saturday

Reader Laura passed along a promotion for people that have American Express cards.

Today only (Saturday 27th) if you spend $25 or more at any small business around the country, they will give you a $25 statement credit!

You must register your card here to qualify for the credit. I would do that quickly if you intend to participate.  I don’t have an AMEX card so please let me know when they close enrollment.

Here are the details:

Eligible merchants include any independently owned small businesses that accept the American Express Card.  Purchases made online, at large, national chains, at franchised business locations and at government agencies are not eligible.  Prepaid, corporate cards and ExpressPay transactions are not eligible.

Maybe you can treat yourself to lunch today or to a holiday gift at a small business courtesy of American Express.  You can read more about this promotion here.
I would strongly recommend calling card member services with any questions or to confirm this is valid for your account.

Thanks Laura!

PS:  I decided if I had an AMEX I would get a free manicure today.  Why not call a friend and escape for a few minutes from all the holiday madness.

Michelle- isn’t that what I said? Was there an important detail I overlooked?

Do you know if there is a list of small businesses in Sacramento? This sounds like a good deal.

Niecesha I don’t know how they would be able to do that. You can just go to any small place you find. You can’t do a franchise- like a Doug’s UPS Store. But you could do like Doug’s Restaurant or something. Just any independently owned place. I wonder if you can find a grocery store or something. If I had an Amex I would probably go to a pizza place and pick up dinner tonight 🙂

Okay. Thanks Charlene. I think I will do just that.

What I didn’t like was in the agreement section. YOU HAVE ENTERED INTO A LEGALLY BINDING AGREEMENT WITH AMERICAN EXPRESS TRAVEL RELATED SERVICES COMPANY, INC. AND ITS AFFILIATES (collectively, “AXP”, “we” or “us”). ………..”what does that mean????

We are having pizza for dinner tonight. My local pizzeria takes American Express. Yipppee. Leftover turkey may end up in the freezer.

Reading the fine print and it says,”you must have received an invitation to register for the offer (an “Eligible Cardmember”). Eligible Cardmembers must comply with this Agreement and with the Merchant Offer Terms to receive the Merchant Offer. ” Does that mean we had to have received this offer directly from American Express by e-mail to be eligible? Any thoughts?

No I can’t answer questions about the fine print. I saw this advertised on tv and I believe Laura saw it on the news. I would just call customer service or post a question on the Facebook wall and ask.

Mj I am not an attorney so I can’t offer commentary on their terms. I would call cars services and ask.
