Please excuse the mess as I am trying to get everything organized on MFA after our little facelift. I have many, many, many things left to do and I am working on them as quickly as I can. This note will remain at the top of the blog for the next few days. Just scroll down to see new deals!

like new look of your blog. good job!!!
Erin says
It does look great! Is there anyway to add a link to email a post? Often I read the blog on my phone, but then later have to go back through everything again in order to find posts or links to print coupons. I end up missing some things because I don’t have time to go back through. I’d love to be able to see it on my phone and then just click a button to email a link to the specific posts I need to revisit once I’m at my computer.
If not, that’s ok too, it is just an idea. Keep up the good work, you’ve really made a big difference in our family’s bottom line. Thanks!
Charlene says
Ok I think I did it Erin! Good call. Every change takes about 10 min before it is visible but hopefully you will see a little envelope at the bottom of each post.

Looks very, very nice! Great work! 🙂

The new look is great!! 🙂 Thanks for all the great tips!!

I LOVE the new look. It’s very catching. Thanks for adding Erin’s suggestion above. I do the same thing and was always forgetting things that I had read on my phone. So Thanks to Erin too for the great idea.

Congratulations on your new look Charlene keep up the good work love your blog great resource!
Debbie says
Looks good! However, the fonts are a lot smaller and harder to read (or maybe I just have bad eyes 🙂
Thanks for all you do, love your site!
Charlene says
Debbie you mean the font in the posts? Well darn, I thought the new font was bigger and easier to read 🙂
Josie says
I actually love the new font. Makes it look very professional!
Sara says
Ohh la la…so fancy! I love it!
Kim says
I miss each post being boxed in pink. It made them easy to distinguish from one another. That was one thing that made MFA stand out from other sites. And the links in a drop down instead of the side. Oh no, that’s fine for me, but for newbies…I don’t know, it was hard to find. I love the new font. It is easy to read. Will you be adding the ability to “track” updates on comments? That way we know when you’ve replied to us? I LOVE that you can see the date easier. That way you know if those “today only” things are from today or not. What happened to the “Where to start” and those buttons?” I send a lot of friends there.
Charlene says
Kim, I had to do the Target matchups which took about 2 hours last night instead of doing more on the design. As I said to a few others, basically a change like this means the movers come and drop the boxes in your living room and leave. Now I have to sort through all of it while maintaining my normal blogging schedule and my number one priorities which are my children and husband. Plus my husband worked yesterday and he has to work today- so that isn’t helping. Anyway, there is a list as long as my arm of things to do and it is just really a matter of me getting to all of it.
I can’t think of which pink boxes you mean? Around posts?
Ronni says
Take your time Charlene….it looks great! Thank you!
Kim says
Oh dear, I didn’t meant to give you a big, long list to do. I’m sorry. I presumed that some things transferred over and if they didn’t that they were gone. The “where to start” link was so helpful to me when I started (and so many others), so when you have time please bring it back. Whenever you get to it. And my hubby and kids are #1 for me too!
Yes, the pink boxes around each post? The grey lines aren’t as distinguishing as the pink boxes were, but I’ll adjust, it’s just me. Actually, a lot of blogs use just a plain line between posts. I really like your comments in blue. And the font does look larger and clearer.
Amy says
Um….LOVE your line at the bottom of the site……
“This site runs on Starbucks, Chocolate and WordPress using the Thesis Theme”
AWESOME! 🙂

I LOVE your new look!

Hey Charlene – Keep up the good work, it’s looking great! Will you have a mobile version that streamlines the site for viewing on phones? Money Saving Mom does this and it makes it so much easier to read the posts on a smaller screen. I believe I just had to turn it on once and then it was set.
Charlene says
Jenna- I have been thinking of that. Personally I find them irritating because I refer to MFA on my iPhone several times a day and I like to see stuff. Let me ask though and see what the vote is. It is for sure something I have been considering.
Charlene says
It does Amy 🙁 And sometimes Cheez Its I am very ashamed to say.
Charlene says
You didn’t give me anything Kim so no worries! I give my self these impossible to do lists everyday. I think poor MFA will be a hot mess for at least another week. All those lists were in very desperate need of updating anyway so that makes me even pokier.
Mary says
Oh please don’t add the mobile version. I like you find them very irritating. I enjoy your blog the way it is and check it several times a day on my phone….I love the new email feature 🙂

Looks great! keep up the good work!

New site is lookin’ good!

I really like the new look, too. It’s big and bright. I’m missing a couple things that I really hope you bring back, though. Like the list of stores you do match-ups for (formerly on the right-side of the page)because it was so nice to just go there before a shopping trip and see all the match-ups you’ve listed for that store. I also miss the category being listed at the bottom of each post. Now, for example, when you click on “more Target deals” at the bottom of a post, it doesn’t show you all your Target posts like it used to, it just shows the weekly match-up with comments. Will we see those features come back? P.S. I’m a loyal MFA’er and really appreciate all you do. 🙂
Robbie says
Looks so good. Love the new changes and everything is much easier to read. Thanks for all your great info and deals!!
cjs says
Site looks great…and yes, I agree that the site is easy on the eyes to read. Some sites are too ‘busy’. Thanks for all you do!
Karentina says
What a great makeover for MFA…and wowzers…I cannot imagine what a headache to transform it!! Thanks for doing it though….I think it’s gonna be superduper when it’s all done. (looking pretty terrific already!!) And I LOVE that the site runs on “starbucks and chocolate”. Way to find alternative energy sources! :o)
Suzy says
I love the dates at the top of the posts so I can tell if it’s new or not – thanks!
Danielle says
I love that you moved the search box to the top!!! That is my most used feature, by far!! 🙂 I also love that your posts are in BLUE. Makes it easy to read! I know you have a long to-do list…something I think someone else mentioned…is it possible to add the ability to allow email notifications when a post we comment on gets further comments? (did that just make ANY sense!? LOL!!) Also, another thing if possible…on LRWC, she has the option to print a post, but edited to our needs – not sure if it’s software or what, but it is nice feature I use a lot. (after all, I make my list according to “what Charlene tells me to buy!” LOL!!) Your blog is one of my 5 bookmarks on my toolbar – right behind email and Facebook! 🙂 THANK you so much for all your hard work!!! Site looks awesome!
Charlene says
Danielle- yup, yup and yup. I have to figure out the plug in that does that for comments. Plug ins used to crash my site in the old platform so now I might go plug in happy. The printable feature Cindy uses is print friendly, which I planned to switch to because it was better than the one I have. But I am actually getting a super fancy one done that will be better. Hopefully a week or so and it will be ready- they are writing the code now 🙂

Love the new look, but may I make a suggestion? Could you possibly darken the color of your headlines, or at least make them bold. When I’m scrolling through your blog looking for an entry I’ve already read it’s very difficult to read the headlines. The light color type on a white background doesn’t show up very well at all. Love your blog. It’s great to find out someone who includes ShopRite in their list of deals.
diana says
Hi Charlene!!
Will you still have the list of stores like Shop Rite, Walgreens etc… when the new look is completed?? Thanks for all of this information… I save a TON!!!!!!
Charlene says
Yes Diana all those stores are still there. You can click on the drop down category menu on the right sidebar for now to find them.
Jenna says
Hi, it’s me again. RE: the mobile version…I am able to view your site much better now on my iPod. It loads much quicker and the fonts are bigger, so that works. Thanks!
