Reader Leah spotted a great deal at Target stores. As soon as I can break free from my little angels I plan to make a Target run to check it out. In the meantime, this is what Leah found:
There is an ad in the 8/15 SS for a free $5 gift card when you buy 2 Schick Quattro Disposable razors at Target. It says the gift card is valid from 8/15-8/28.
Leah found the razors priced at $5.49- so here is her transaction
Buy 2 at $5.49
Use (2) $3/1 from 7/25 SS
Final Price: $4.98 and she got a $5 gift card back!
You can also play a game here and try to win Schick coupons.
Leah said the razors were not marked at her store- so I would absolutely check your SmartSource insert for this advertisement and take it with you when you go.ย It was on the last page of my insert.ย This could be a regional promotion so don’t forget to check your insert!

I have a quick question about using a mfg and web coupon from Target. ๐ The last couple of times I have tried to use both, it will only take off one. For example today I had two items that I had a mfg and web coupon for both and it only took the mfg coupon on the receipt (of course I didn’t realize it until after I left the store). :/ Do I need to give cashier the coupons in a certain order or is there something I’m missing? ๐ I don’t know if it is just the Target I’m going to where there is a problem and maybe I need to speak to a manager or did their policy change?
Thanks!

Is there a limit to these? Thank you.
Charlene says
Shelly the limit will be how many coupons you have!
Charlene says
Shelly the receipts can be a little tricky so you really have to look carefully. Often times the Target coupons will just adjust the price of the item- so if you item is $3 and you use a $1 coupon- the item might be listed on the receipt at $2 rather than showing a line item with a $1 coupon. If that is not the case- you just want to watch carefully at the register and point it out to them when they scan the coupons. If you have extra copies of the coupons you didn’t get credited for, you can take them to customer service for a missed coupon refund.

I tried to use this deal last week when it was advertised, but Target gave me a hard time about using coupons. I tried to use the two $3/1 coupons, but the register rejected it and then it would only accept them for $1.00, so I asked the cashier to used the $1/1 peel off coupon that were on both razors.
Charlene says
Sarah- I would call and complain to customer service. There is no reason why your coupons wouldn’t work with this offer.

In my experience, you must buy this with something worth at least $5 for the coupons to go through at face value. You can then return the item. Found this out the hard way after crashing 2 registers at my store!

Just got back from Target and this deal was going on. I also had coupon issues. He would scan the coupon and it would only take off 98 cents. He got the manager to come over and she tried a few things and it kept saying the price for the item can’t be less than 50 cents – don’t know what that was about. She ended up puting them in as target coupons and it worked.
I also had an issue with the Five Star Coupons for the folders. The folders are 50 cents each and the coupon is $1.00/2 so they should be free. He scanned the coupon and they only scanned to 50 cents so he had to override.
It was really weird as I have not had these two things happen before. It was like the computer did not want you to get free items. Maybe they did a computer update or something.

There’s a $2 off Target coupon for Schick Women’s Razors and another $2 off one for Schick Men’s Razors in the (this Sunday) 8/22 Smart Source that could be stacked with the mfg’s too on this one! I get the Smart Source on Fridays in the mail.

I did this deal on Sunday, 8/15, and it worked perfectly. This may be a monthly deal because the price check scanner showed that the items qualify for a $5 GC even during the week prior. I find that prices range from $5.49 – $6.04.

Sherry, this is a common problem when you combine Target “gift card” coupons with another coupon. For some reason it looks like the new and improved registers are recognizing the gift card as a coupon (??).
I did this deal a couple weeks ago and ended up with the same result. Luckily, I, too, was shopping at my favorite store and the manager entered each one (for several transactions) as a store coupon.

I also had a problem with this transaction. When I originally tried to use the 2 coupons, a supv. was called and the supv. said the computer wouldn’t allow the 2 coupons. My mistake was I didn’t have a filler item. I came back thru the checkstand with the filler item and it would allow $3 on the one coupon and $2.22 on the other. Apparently, it has something to do with the transaction equaling zero. I was thrilled with this outcome since I used my gift card to shop for bread and other staples I was out of – the razors were still “free” it just took some time to make it so.
Once again, thanks sooo much for passing on these great deals! My whole office is following your blog now!
I had used another coupon at Rite Aid during their HOT HOT HOT sale (on until tomorrmow) but I’m returning the razors I bought there – nothing beats free! (after rebate/gift card)

I just read an earlier post. Oops – my filler item was $4.24. It was an awesome item (really cute clearance purse) so I didn’t need to buy/return an item to get the extra .76 though on principal I would like to get the full value of the coupon.
Thanks for the heads up about having another item at above
$5 to get full coupon value.
The stores don’t make it easy, but you guys do. thanks again to Mitchell Wischmann for the tip (above post)

I played the game and got $4 coupons. It let me print many coupons by hitting the back button. I think that this will be a really good deal. thanks.

I tried using the $4 coupons and I had the same problems as everyone else with the register not taking them. Cashier was confused, manager was confused. They couldn’t even over ride it so they decided that I should pay and then take the coupons over to customer service where they gave me back the $8. That made it a great deal (paid $11 plus tax, got a $5 gift card and they gave me back $8) but way too much work. I might skip these Target deals until they get it worked out. This is a shame. I don’t get it, the gift card is from Target and the coupons are from a manufacturer so Target will get reimbursed.
