Target stores are starting the big toy clearance. This usually happens 3x a year- July, October and January- they tend to mark down a lot of toys to get ready for new stuff and clear out holiday stuff. This is a great time to think ahead to any birthdays you might have or even plan ahead to the holidays.
My store had items at 30%- I usually try to buy all of our toys at 75% off so you might start watching your store and see if you get lucky. Typically Wednesdays are the days they mark down the toy department- but again that is just in general and you can always ask at your store.
I found a a TON of clearance on just about every kind of toy out there. There were a handful of pool toys on sale as well- for my local readers save a slip and slide for me! I want to see if they go to 75% off.

I picked up a Toy Story slip and slide the other day from WalMart for my kids and it was the regular price of $5! I believe they are $8 or $10 at Toys R Us, so I was pretty happy when I saw them for $5!
I bought that same one. It’s nothing fancy but my kids are loving it!
I so love this sale…However, I called my Targets here in Houston, Tx and they are not doing that sale yet…:(
My Target has a bunch for 30%, but my excitement came from a $50 Star Wars X-wing Starfighter that I got for $12.48. I’ve been watching it since last Christmas! 2 Targets by me had a bunch of them.
Target had a Slip n Slide in the ad a few weeks ago for $3.99. I snagged one for A’s birthday. I thought that was better than waiting for a clearance sale. 🙂
Well poop- I missed it. They have one for $5 in the grocery outlet ad this week but I think a fancy $25 one for 75% off sounds better 🙂
charlene, do you shop at the target off of fairway? i shop on the one off of douglas and although i really like it there, i have found some of the prices there seem to be slightly higher than the one you shop at. I doubt it’s worth it to drive all the way over there for a few bucks but if I happen to be in the area I want to try out your target.
Bree- now I live closer to the Douglas one. It is more expensive but the upside is that there is a larger selection- especially in foods. The downside is I find that store to be coupon hostile and it just seems like a grumpy store. The one on Fairway has such nice employees and they are always patient with my coupons. So sometimes you will see stuff from Douglas and sometimes from Fairway from me 🙂
I am new to target shopping, will the toy clearance go to 75% off?
Kathy you actually have to check at your store because each and every one will be different. What you can do is just call and ask to talk to someone in the toy department and ask them. Sometimes they will tell you they don’t know when markdowns are- but in general is goes from 15 to 30 to 50 to 75 once per week. Wed is usually the day for markdowns in the dept but again you actually have to check at your store because not every single one follow the same schedule.
