I tried to purchase 2 scrubbing bubbles extend clean and 2 refill and was not allowed to use free refill coupon manager said tried to use 2 coupons for one item. Any ideas on this.
Charlene says
I would try another store or another cashier. Some stores are just very difficult about coupons. You can try calling Target customer service as well- but no there is nothing I can do if you have a challenging store.
Jill says
Casee, they wouldn’t let me either. I went to customer service and they wouldn’t either…grr.

Hello
Yes,you cannot use the two manufacturer coupons on one item. I’m afraid the above mentioned deal (see below) is wrong. Both ($5/1 Power Sprayer coupon from 4/11 SS) , (Free refill when you buy sprayer) coupons are manufacturer coupons for power sprayer and like any other store they dont accept two manufacturer coupon on one item. I didnt check it myself and learned it the hard way like you all did in the store. Next time I WILL be more cautious, not follow the online sites blindly but check the deal twice before I go store.

Frugalsaver- Let’s see. For the first point this is not using 2 coupons on the same item. Here is how it breaks down:
1. Power Sprayer- Use $5 coupon
2. Regular Cleaner- Use .75 coupon
3. Refill- Free when you buy cleaner
The cleaner is what is discounted therefore that is 3 items and 3 coupons. Now if the $5 coupon was for the refill or the .75 coupon was for the refill then you would be correct and that would be using 2 coupons on the same item. The amount that is reduced is $3.94 which is the value of the REFILL so I am very confused as to how this is a second coupon for the sprayer.
Now as to your second point I think it is very legitimate not to “blindly follow the sites.” I can only provide information and put things together. There is ZERO chance that every single transaction will go exactly the way I hope for every single person around the country. As I have said more times than I can count, you need to learn your stores. Now there are many people that shop at Target stores that are not allowed to stack coupons at all and that is clearly written in the coupon policy. There is nothing I can do about that except suggest you just avoid the deals that will cause problems or find another store.
As to your other point that you learned “like you all did” that is also inaccurate. I did this transaction personally and had no problems at all. I am quite certain if I can do it that there are many, many, many others that did too however I very rarely hear from those that have successful trips I usually hear from people coming to complain or ask questions. And the two other readers you are referencing actually did a different scenario than you did.
Now if that transaction didn’t fly why not modify your transaction and buy:
1. Power Sprayer- Use $5 coupon
1. Cleaner- Use .75 coupon
1. Cleaner- Use .75 coupon
For a total of $6.47 with a $5 gift card back and a $5 rebate?
I did outline 3 different scenarios so if one doesn’t work than I would recommend listening to why it won’t work and then just try something else.

Hello
Thank you for the clarification. I’m still not convinced that I can go with below deal because according to three target stores I visited yesterday night , its two manufacturer coupons on regular cleaner.
1. Power Sprayer- Use $5 coupon
2. Regular Cleaner- Use .75 coupon
3. Refill- Free when you buy cleaner
But,I’m glad it worked for you and others. When I said “like you all did” I was referring to other comments.
Thank you again.

Yeah!! Thanks Charlene this worked for me! I was hoping to try this stuff but I didn’t want to pay $8! I got 2 refills and 2 cleaners and I will make a profit after the rebate! I am using the gift card to go back and get 4 more later this week!
Also I totally agree with knowing your stores. I learned this the hard way and I usually have a back up plan if I run into problems.
For the other reader- in the future you might just look at her posts as guidelines. I have one store I would never have tried this at because they would never allow it but I went to another one that is coupon friendly and no problems!

Charlene,
I just wanted to say I think your blog is great. I went to Target last night with my stack of coupons and scored some great deals. Every scenario I tried worked perfectly. My total before coupons was over $80, after coupons I spent $47.95 and got $15 back in Target gift cards! This also included a couple of dress shirts on clearance for the hubs. Sooo excited!

Sad! My target store also rejected it. But I will go tomorrow and get the stuff from scenario A and B.
The cashier lady was so damn anal, she literally took out every single item from my back to match the coupons.I just had 3 or 4 more apart from the 4 for scrubbing bubbles. But I have to say, even though I went at the 11th hour she was nice and polite. Did not get agitated by my questioning and easily called the manager to verify the policy. The manager too said the same thing that I could not use 2 coupons on one item. I hated the answer as the second Target is about 8-9miles and I know I am not go there. I was not very keen on buying the Extend-A-clean but would have loved to try something new especially when I could get the refill free, had it worked out at my store. Well, The basic cleaner are the ones that I would definitely use more.
Thanks Charlene for putting all of them up. You really invest a lot of time and energy into all of this. God Bless!
In my one month of couponing experience, I always had these issues and now just take it in my stride. I know some deals would work and some would not. I try and be polite when ever a transaction does not go through. Like in this case, I had to ask the lady to reverse the items and she voided the entire transaction and redid for me, I bet I would be a bit agitated if I were in her place at 10:30pm. Now that I know a bit about my stores and cashiers, I try wait for tricky deals like this to come to stores where I know the cashiers are flexible or probably just wait for a particular cashier to be behind the register. Like my CVS, I don’t know how but (TOUCHWOOD !) every single cashier of theirs is amazing. My Riteaid has one lady who is pretty moody and she is the only one behind the register during her shift :(. So I wait for deals at CVS or just go to Rite Aid at a time when the lady is not working.
But above all I think I have to thank you Charlene, as I know, being new to Couponing I could not have done without your weekly deals. Even though I am a s/w developer, my head spins when it comes to putting deals together. You are a true life Saver. I would have never bought things I buy now using coupons and you truly make it happen for me! God Bless!! hugs and Kisses…lol
Meg says
I just don’t get how they’re arguing that this is two coupons on one item.
This is one of those times I’d try (politely) placing the coupons right next to the items….3 different items, 3 different coupons.
And, Charlene-you’re great! I used to follow dozens of blogs, but now you’re one of two I check regularly.
I love the variety of deals you cover.
