Kmart Doubles Event (Maybe)

I don’t want to get anyone’s hopes up on this but the rumor is that we might see another doubles coupon event from Kmart in April.  For those of you that took part in this last year, you might recall that Kmart is not terribly organized with these promotions.  Basically if you call three times you get three different answers so we can just cross our fingers that it does actually happen.

Also it could be just select regions that participate- or it could just be Michigan last last time- I won’t really know for sure until the day the sale starts.

However this is the email that I got from Kmart:

Thank you for contacting Kmart regarding the Kmart Double Coupon Event. We appreciate your interest in this promotion. This event is for select participating Kmart locations from 4/4-4/10.

Below are the details of the promotion:

-Manufacturer Coupons up to and including $2 Value – Doubled up to $2 no matter what the retail price of a single item is.
-Does not include Kmart Store Coupons
-Does not include Kmart Pharmacy Store Coupons
-Limit 5 total coupons per customer per day.
-First 5 coupons provided by customer will be doubled.

Thank you for contacting us and have a nice day.

So it is a little bit of a bummer because you can only use (5) coupons total per day.  Also I do not know what “select” Kmart stores are.  Hopefully as we get closer to April more information will come out.  Please feel free to share in the comments any information you might have!

Interesting! I can’t wait to hear more confirmations and possibly start planning.

You made my day! I have been quite bummed since they stopped doing this. I started couponing last year about April and I got quite a stockpile from Kmart!

Does Doubled up to $2 mean they will double a $2 coupon up to $4? I am not sure how to read that! I got some great things last time they doubled here in MO! Thanks. Carla

Yes. A $2 coupon doubles to $4 unless the item is less. So if the item is $4.19 with a $2 coupon you pay .19. If the item is $3.74 with a $2 coupon you pay 0 and it only doubles to $3.74. So basically no overage.

I’m reading on quite a few sites that it’s participating stores nationwide. I’ve confirmed with them that Toledo, OH is participating.

was totally just thinking about kmart and their sweet doubles.

All stores in IL are participating except these four

    GALESBURG, IL
    MOLINE, IL
    ROCK ISLAND, IL
    STERLING, IL

me and my mom were just talking about doubles, starting to plan lol.

Actually I emailed and they said that we would get overage. I asked if they meant a $2 coupon on an item that is $3.50 would mean $.50 overage by saying ”
Manufacturer Coupons up to and including $2 Value – Doubled up to $2 no matter what the retail price of a single item is”. They responded:
“At this time, your reasoning is correct on the doubled coupon no matter the retail price. This is the information provided by our corporate office. This information may be clarified closer to the actual event time. We recommend checking in with us at the end of March for more details. The stores will be enforcing the coupon limits.” Sounds too good to be true but We’ll see!

Interesting. Now that is going to be something I have to see to believe but excellent catch on the new wording.

We’ve never seen overages with the Kmart super doubles in the past, so I would be surprised if it works out that way. In the past, if an item was $3.79 and you had a $2 coupon, they would only double up to $3.79

Anyone able to confirm the Sac area??

  13. Tabatha says

    03/03/2010 at 4:37 PM

Wow, only 5 coupons! That may not be worth the trip for me since I live about 30 minutes away from a Kmart but we’ll see! Depends on what I can get for free I guess! I stocked up on so much dish liquid soap last year that I actually still have a bottle and a half left! LOL And it was all free!!! 🙂

Nicole pretty sure this will be in Rocklin. The embarrassing thing is that I talk to Kmart so frequently to confirm, reconfirm, reconfirm and confirm again they have my email on file 🙂 They know my zip code when I don’t even provide it in my emails.

Anyone heard about other parts of Ohio? Like Cincinnati Area

  18. Paula says

    03/03/2010 at 9:25 PM

How do they know if you use more than 5 per day. Say I go in purchase 5 items then leave for awhile and go back in. I live 30miles from a Kmart so if its a limit of 5per day probably not worthwhile but if I can do a few transactions I might consider it.

  19. Charlene says

    03/03/2010 at 9:37 PM

Paula it is totally up to each store. Some stores will let you use as many coupons as you want and some are sticklers. Basically Kmart can be very frustrating or fun depending on how you look at it. I try to look at it as a little adventure and I have no idea how things will go until I drive out of the parking lot on Sunday 🙂

  20. Katie says

    03/04/2010 at 6:58 AM

Does anyone know if you have to spend a certain amount to use the 5 coupons? $25, $50????

  21. Katie says

    03/04/2010 at 7:01 AM

Just wondering if anyone knows of some good sites that tell us what to buy and where to get the coupons. I have heard of one person that bought over $500 at Kmart and paid $9 with double coupons.
I would like to be that person but I need some help.

  22. Charlene says

    03/04/2010 at 8:55 AM

Katie I do that list every time there are doubles. If you click on the Kmart link on my sidebar you can go back to some of the old lists to get an idea.

It has been a couple of years since my local Kmart did double coupons but I found that even with a double coupon the prices were still higher than using a regular coupon at Walmart. If they do this again here I will definitely check it out and drag hubby along to use 5 more coupons 🙂

  24. Charlene says

    03/04/2010 at 11:26 AM

Julie you are totally right it is tricky business because the prices are really inflated. If you click on Kmart on my sidebar and go back to some of the doubles lists from before you will see it is well worth the time. There are a lot of gems.

Whoo Hoo! I sent them an email and got this in return:

Ok question. What if I have a coupon for $3.50. Can I double this for:

    1. $3.50 doubled to $4.00?

    or

    2. $3.50 doubled to $5.50? $3.50 coupon plus value of $2.00

    or

    3. Is is it only good for $3.50 since it is more than $2.00?

  27. Charlene says

    03/28/2010 at 4:28 PM

No, a coupon above $2 in value is redeemed at face value. Below $2 is doubled up to the cost of the item or up to a grand total of $4.
