Did you get the supplemental ad for Safeway in your paper today?  Well I did and I was very excited to finally see some good deals!  The coupons might not be exactly the same where you live so be sure to double check. They are valid from 1/3-1/10.

Here are the highlights from my ad:

18 ct Large Eggs .98* (limit 1)
Some areas had BOGO 18 ct eggs this week- so get (2) 18 ct for .98! (Thanks Courtney!)

Smithfield Premium Bacon $1.99* (limit 4)

Nature Valley Granola Bars 4/$6* (must buy 4)
This deal is even better because there is a $2.50 catalina printing when you buy 4
Use $1/1 Nature Valley Nut Clusters HERE
Use .40/1 Nature Valley Granola Bars HERE
{Deal Idea}
Buy 2 Nut Clusters
Buy 2 Granola Bars
Use (2) $1/1 coupons
Use (2) .40/1 coupons
Final Price: $3.20 and you get back a catalina for $2.50- so the net price is .18 per item!

OR
There is another Nut Clusters $1 off coupon HERE
If you buy 4 packages of Nut Clusters you will pay $2.00 and get $2.50 back making a .50 profit!  (Thanks Sheila!)
***Be sure to look for signs on the Nut Clusters that say 4/$10. That is how you will know they are part of the promotion!

8lb bag Navel Oranges $4.99

Hunt’s Snack Pack Pudding $1
Use Buy 3 Get 1 Free from All You January
Final Price: 4 packs for $3

Kraft Singles $1.49* (limit 2)
Use .50/1 from 12/6 RP
Final Price: .99

Safeway Bread .99

GM Cheerios or Cinnamon Toast Crunch $1.49 each when you buy 4 (limit 20)
Use $1/2 Cheerios HERE or HERE
Use .55/1 Cheerios HERE (yellow box) or HERE
Use $1/1 Cinnamon Toast Crunch HERE
Use .55/1 Cinnamon Toast Crunch HERE or HERE

{Deal Idea}
Buy 2 Cinnamon Toast Crunch
Buy 2 Cheerios
Use (2) $1 coupons
Use (2) .55/1 coupons
Final Price: $2.86 or .72 per box! That is actually a GREAT price for Cheerios!

*These are in ad coupons, which mean you need the actual coupon to get this price.  They also require a minimum $20 purchase to use but that is pre-coupon, so very easy to achieve!  There are a handful of stores that will not allow stacking store coupons with manufacturer coupons.  The vast majority of stores do not have any problems with it!

For the Nut Clusters you could also use $1/1 from the Smart Source coupons (you have a link right by the cherrios) I printed a total of 4 1/1!! Thanks!!

Also come shortcuts and cellfire coupons that match these deals.

My Safeway wouldn’t let me use more than one each of my printed coupons. This must be new since I have used them numerous times before. If you have multiple printables, I would suggest taking some back-up coupons (like from the paper) just in case they don’t take all of your printables.

I did not get the insert today. I live in Monterey, CA. Does anyone know if this could be available in store?

It was in the Sunday paper and some stores will have them and some will not. You can always call and see if they have the extra ad available.

Every time I try to print the Cinnamon toast crunch coupon, it prompts me to install the coupon printer which I’ve done now a gazillion times! Very frustrating…any tips?

Try another browser and see if it works!

Thanks for your deals. I took my DH with me to Safeway tonight and told him what we were doing…he said it all sounded very confusing. THEN he was impressed! WE got:
    2 bags pop chips
    5 boxes wheat thins
    4 Nut clusters

    Total: $2.00
    got back $2.50 cat!!!
WAHOO! Couldn’t have done it without you! THANK YOU!
(I had two free pop chip Q’s that I used to get my total up to $20)

Ah Sheila there is something about free junk food that makes men believers in the power of the coupon!

I just love those “Nature Valley BUT Clusters” heehee. (see a couple lines up from the deal idea for these). I take couponing seriously, so I like seeing little funnies like this to give me a laugh. But seriously, thanks for all your work, Charlene….

Ha! Glad you had a laugh at my expense. Actually I am always good for a few typos. With two little ones climbing all over me all day it is amazing I get anything posted 😉

I tried getting the nut clusters, as I had (4) 1.00 off coupons but the cashier wouldn’t let me use the in ad coupon, stating it was only for the Nature Valley bars. She was a real pain. I may try again at a different register. On the plus side, I got 10 boxes of Nabisco snack for free! Using (4) 2.00/2 and (2) Facebook Wheat thins coupons. Needless to say, the hubby was very impressed!

You can always go through U Scan as well- although the granola bars are still a very good deal.

I did the nature valley deal and got home and realized there’s also a $1 coupon available for the nut clusters on shortcuts.com you can load to your card. There’s also a bogo deal on light/high fiber progresso soups that are priced starting at 2.69 at my store. Buy 6, use (2) 1.10 off 3 coupons, .50 ecoupon on cellfire, and pay 5.37 for 6 cans.

I scored a great deal on the Glade candles today. They are b1g1 and I purchased the large fragrance collection type. They were 2 for 9.99 & I used the $3 off 2 coupon from the newspaper and it printed a $3 catalina. These are the large 3 wick ones-great deal in the end. I’m going back tomorrow as ALL of the glade fragrances were b1g1 🙂

I had a problem with the buy 5 get $5 off Nabisco crackers. My Safeway refused my manufactures coupons claiming it would be considered double couponing which is prohibited. The GM backed up the cashier. Does anyone know if their coupon policy addresses this?

  17. admin says

    01/11/2010 at 12:28 PM

Kelly that is a new one. Double coupons are when the face value of the coupon is doubled- so your store seems confused to me. Also you were only using one coupon per item to begin with since that was a store promotion. I don’t think the coupon policy addresses that because it doesn’t make any sense. Can you find another store in your area to shop at?

Yes. I just get nervous when you can’t find a coupon policy anywhere. I asked the safeway blog the same question. I would like to have something in writing before trying to take advantage of another buy 5 get $5 off deal. I am lucky enough to have lot’s of choices so I can only shop @ coupon friendly stores.
