For 1/24 ONLY there is an overlapping catalina:
Buy 5 or more of the items above in one transaction and get a $5 catalina back. SO if you do the Kraft Cheese scenario above than you will actually make .10 profit to buy all that cheese! Whoo hoo! Now you can afford to buy more newspapers and then do the transaction again. You will hopefully get another $5 catalina plus the $2 catalina for spending $20!
I can’t wait to hear if this works and don’t forget you can call catalina marketing if for some reason your cat doesn’t print. They will actually mail it to you!

this is amazing! I went to Kroger this morning. I bought:
6 Kraft cheese = $.99 each (after mega event savings)
4 cans of Hormel chili = $.79 each (after mega event savings)
– (3) $1/2 Kraft cheese
– (2) $.55 off Hormel chili
= $5.23, plus I got the $5 catalina
Then I did it again, with a total of $.23 and I got another $5 catalina! 🙂 I don’t know what I’m going to do with all this cheese.
Are you sure this ends today? I read on another website that it ends on the 31st.
Sarah says
In my area the sale doesn’t start till tomorrow. 🙁

No I am not sure. I don’t have the catalina myself but I checked 3 sources and 3 of them said 1/24 end date. It looks like Meijer is the only store reported as 1/31. Safeway and Kroger all said 1/24. We can try to call catalina on Monday but I would just rather be sure everyone gets in on the deal than take a chance. Meijer could have been a mistake too so I am not sure.

I was just curious about the end date. I didn’t do a lot of looking into it. I’d much rather stock up today then miss out on the amazing deal. I went back to Kroger after collecting some more coupons and I rolled the $5 4 more times. I got a total of 24 cans of Homel chili, 24 bags of Kraft cheese and 12 packages of Philadelphia cream cheese for $6.38 (less than 11 cents per item) and I’ve got a $5 catalina left! 🙂
admin says
OK so once you hit $20 did the $2 catalina a print as well? I wasn’t sure if they both would but that one is supposed to run through 5/10.
kelli says
no, no $2. just the $5.
I would love to have the extra $2, but I’m totally fine with what I did today. 🙂 My fiance is going to think I’m even more insane then he already does when he gets home and sees our fridge is now full of cheese.
admin says
I would probably buy my weight in cheese if I had a Kroger! We love cheese and I usually pay a ton for it. Good job!
kelli says
I’m not a huge cheese fan but my fiance loves it and I almost never buy it because it’s so expensive. We almost never get the Kraft cheese coupons in the paper but we had them today, so I had to take advantage of this deal. I have a really hard time resisting a great deal. 🙂

Do you know which regions are participating? I stopped in at my Kroger store in Ohio today and cheese was priced at $4.99 with nothing indicating a $5 catalina and didn’t see anything in the ad, either. Am I just missing something or is my area not participating?
admin says
Jill, Catalinas are tricky because 99.9% of the time there is no advertisement for them anywhere other than little announcements that come out of the machine when you shop. All Kroger and affiliates should be part of this promotion.
Melissa says
Do you know if the Catalina will print in the Nashville market? I read on another site that it did not work in my area. I just want to confirm before I drive all the way back to Kroger. Thanks!

About the $2 catalina –
I read that if you buy over several transactions to reach the $20 total, that it can take up to 1 week for your catalina to print. So if you have earned a $2 catalina and it did not print then, the next time you are in the store in a week’s time, and use your shopper’s card – it will recognize that you are owed that $2 catalina – and it will print out for you then.
If you buy all $20 worth of Kraft in one transaction, I believe it will print right then and there.
Also, you can earn the $2 catalina more than once. So after you buy $20, if you buy another $20 you will earn a second $2 catalina, etc. I believe for this $2 catalina offer, there is a limit of 25 catalinas per shopper card.

As I said the catalina is supposed to be running in every Kroger store. I don’t know what sites you are reading and there are many reasons why it might not print- maybe the machine was out of paper or jammed or maybe the store just didn’t have all the items programmed properly. I can’t say with 100% certainty this will work in every single Meijer, Safeway, Kroger store around the country. You can get a definite answer by calling catalina company directly but they are not open until tomorrow. So you will have missed the sale. It is up to you if you want to take the chance. It worked for me just fine at my Safeway. Catalina promotions are typically not well advertised and there is no resource to guarantee you will get them so you always are taking a chance.

Lucy – thanks for the info. I hope that you’re right about the $2! I’ve “spent” $80.46 on Kraft cheese and cream cheese today.
Is the spent $20, get $2 just for cheese, cream cheese, etc. or is it any Kraft product? because I “spent” $11.94 on Kraft salad dressing too. Today has been a great shopping day for me!! 🙂

We did NOT get the Kraft coupons today in our SS. What’s up with that?? I live in Virginia Beach!
Danielle says
Does anyone know if Meijer will pricematch the $5 off 10 Kraft items that Kroger is promoting? My Kroger does not start the sale until tomorrow, and the way it sounds Kroger will not have the $5 off Catalina tomorrow.
nattacha says
is the price differnt on the east side?? kraft cheese in my paper is part of the mega sale and she priced at 1.99
admin says
Nattacha I think some areas did have higher cheese prices- I know in parts of FL they were $1.49 after promo. With coupons your price will be .99 which is still pretty darn good! Kraft cheese packages are $3.49 where I live!

Hi, I’m new to the Safeway thing and I want to get on some of these awesome deals I keep hearing about. Where was this Kraft cheese deal posted? I went Safeway.com and didn’t see anything about the Kraft cheese on there ad. I did see Sargento $1.49. I wanted to see if this was in my area. I live in the Sac area. (citrus heights). This is incredible for cheese. Thanks for all the great work on helping us save money.
admin says
Hi Virginia Beach, You can still order them from a coupon clipping service and they are .15 each. Only a few left. Check out coupon resources for the link (at the top of the blog).
Christi says
I went into my Safeway tonight and saw nothing that stated anything about the .99cent deal or anything on it for that matter. I did find the make it tonight coupon books though and was happy about that. Is there somewhere where it shows what areas?
admin says
I am confused as to why Safeway is mentioned here? Did I say Safeway in the post somewhere by mistake? This deal is for Kroger stores and Kroger is not part of Safeway.
Christi says
Sorry my confusion. I was thinking safeway for some reason. Sorry, Sorry
