I seriously hated our old highchair. I spent ages trying to find a good price on one and we finally got it and it was so cumbersome and awkward- I just hated it. Plus it always looked dirty to me and it had lots of little crevices that always caught everything- yuck! So the Stokke Tripp Trapp High Chair caught my attention since it looks so sleek and modern. I was very excited to review the high chair as our baby has just started solids and I was not looking forward to dragging out my old chair.
The Stokke is really cool- it slides right up to the table and can be adjusted very simply to fit your child exactly. It can hold up to 300 lbs so it is perfectly comfortable for adults as well.
The Tripp Trapp has a plastic attachment called the baby set that accomodates babies and can be removed. It also has a harness for toddlers and once the child is big enough that can also be removed.
The Stokke company has been around since the 1930’s and is the top selling highchair in Europe. This is really an investment piece and many Europeans have had their chairs for years (or even decades!) and just hand them down to the next generation.
You can pull the chair right up to the table and adjust the seat height so it is comfortable. I can see why it is popular in Europe as it is incredibly compact- we have a small kitchen and this takes up barely any space.
So far this chair has been a total hit for us. I have been able to put my baby in the chair and she happily sits in for a very long time (about 40 minutes the other day!!) She is right in the middle of the action so she doesn’t feel isolated- yet it isn’t a big bulky chair that is in the way while I cook.
Also the footrest can be adjusted to suit your child which means this is a very ergonomic option for little ones. I can tell you that this is a perfectly safe seat and my girls have put it through the ringer already! Since the baby sits at eye level with my toddler- she has taken to dancing with her little sister sitting in the chair. The Stokke is perfectly stable despite a very excited 2 year old.
So if you want to have a look at exactly how this chair functions for a baby and for a toddler watch the vlog below.
The Stokke Tripp Trapp retails for about $249 and the baby set (the plastic attachment for babies) is sold separately as is the table top. You can customize your Tripp Trapp with a variety of colors and patterns to suit your taste. Stokke is available in baby boutiques around the country HERE as well as at retailers such as Diapers.com or Land of Nod.
They are also offering a promotion through the end of the year- buy a Tripp Trapp highchair and baby set or cushion and get the Table Top (shown in the vlog) FREE! It is a $90 value.
