I did a trial run at Target to test drive the new price matching policy. Here is what I learned-
*Not all stores are participating even though this is supposed to be a nationwide program- you will want to call your store ahead to verify they are participating so you don’t waste a trip
*They require the entire ad of the store- not a photocopy or print out and it needs to be a local store
*They will not price match BOGO, % off, or in ad coupons
*You have to pay the Target price for the item at the checkstand and then go to guest service where they will adjust the price and give you a refund.
All in all this seems like a headache to me. I think there is a chance of some great deals but you have to factor in the extra time to go through Guest Services for an adjustment. I took my Safeway ad in tonight to try and use the Safeway .99 Poptarts in ad coupon. They refused the price match because it was an in ad coupon. I had used a .75 Target coupon on the transaction and the cashier had a terrible time sorting out my receipt with all the coupons I had used. She wound up calling the manager over and all and all I felt like a criminal by the time I left. Plus I got stuck with Poptarts I didn’t actually want.
Have you had experiences with price matching yet?

YIKES! I haven't tried to price match at Target yet. This is good to know! I have done price match at Walmart a few times. Simple… they're really great.

I tried to price match some oral b indicator toothbrushes at Target last week! It was a horrible experience, with 3 kids ( 2, 7, 10) in tow along with my cranky husband…I will never price match there again. It was the same as you said, pay full price then go get a price adjust at CS. To me this is exactly that price adjusting, not price matching! I still like walmart for price matching, just go up to the register and they handle it all and quickly.

I tried matching some grapes there a couple weeks ago with Kroger's price. Kroger's ad states "green seedless grapes" (no brand) and Target had "green seedless grapes" (no brand). The customer service people were very helpful, even pulled out the instructions on how to price match, but the system just wouldn't let them match produce. Ended up buying the grapes at Kroger!

I really have a terrible time with Target and coupons in general. I think they really don't care!!! I try to avoid Target….which is a shame because I really like the store.

sounds like a nightmare

Forget that nightmare!! I won't even try. Sounds like everything else Target does, sound good to get you in there and do everything possible to avoid giving any REAL discounts. Unless I am getting something free or close to it, I don't bother anymore.
