How about "be willing to use less-than name brands"? We started out using Luvs on our son, which are a good deal cheaper than Huggies or Pampers. Then someone suggested we try the Walgreens brand (the ones in the green packaging), and it turns out they are fantastic diapers. Now when they go on sale we stock up, and never pay more than .08 a diaper.
Also – if your child is on the borderline between two sizes, consider using the smaller size during the day and the larger at night. Larger sizes always cost more per unit, so keep using the smallest ones possible as long as you can!
