I had to share this quick story as it made me laugh this weekend. I was explaining couponing to some good friends that currently spend $1000+/month on groceries for a family of 5. (FYI-the national average for groceries is $900!) As I showed them many of the items in my stockpile that I have received for free or for pennies, the husband commented on the large basket of Fusion and Quattro razors. “Wow- I have wanted to try those but we can’t afford it. I only have $1000 to spend each month!”
After I stopped laughing and explained I made a profit on each of the razors I offered him a few (and the matching Fusion shaving cream) in exchange for using his comments on my blog. It just reinforces my belief that we have elevated our standard of living since becoming couponers.
Do you have any funny stories to share? I’d love to hear them!

We too have actually upscaled in many areas (including razors and shave cream) since becoming serious couponers.
Last Summer one week EVERYONE who walked into my house left w/ 3 bottles of Robitussin, a bottle of Windex and a Scrubbing Bubbles Action Starter Kit. I was spreading the Walgreens love everywhere.

I have to agree- we use much nicer items (razors, toothpaste, etc) now that I use coupons! I’ve tried telling my mom about it, but she isn’t that interested, however, after seeing my stockpile increase, she offered me a “job” to shop for her! ๐
