Here are the results from my Target shopping trip on Thursday. If you missed this post, they have toys marked down 75% off right now at most stores. I usually get a few things and I can tell you people get pretty crazy with these sales. I saw a lot of people with 2 and 3 and even 4 cartloads of toys!
I usually try to just get a few things that we may have wanted for Christmas and didn’t get or to use for birthdays throughout the year.
Here is what I got:
Not so scary monster with book $4.37 (my 3yo is obsessed with monsters right now so that will be a Valentine’s Day gift)
Tangled Table and Chairs $12.48
Lionel the Train Polar Express Train Set $14.98 (this is a really cool train set and I will probably keep it for next Christmas)
Madagascar Tag Book $3.48
Tinkerbell Character Set $8.74 (this I will have on hand for any little birthday parties)
Art Desk $4.37- that is a really sturdy little table top desk
So the total was about $48 + tax and I know the retail price on the Tangled chairs and table alone was $49.99.
If you decide to check this sale out, here are two trips:
1. Not every store will follow the same clearance schedule so there is a chance your store will not have hit 75% yet. As I said before, my store had signs indicating 30% off even when they were 75% off- so you might scan the toys to be sure!
2. Most stores will probably be sold out of almost everything by now. You might want to head over sooner if you are interested.

I went to do my shopping trip and was bummed to find that the produce I still need was ridiculously priced at Safeway. So I will have to stop at Raley’s tomorrow.
Here is what I did tonight:
~SAFEWAY~ .98
(4) Special K 2/$5- Used (2) BOGO coupons, the coupons took a full $4.49 off- so .51 for 2 boxes. Plus I got a cat back for a free milk!
2 Lucerne Cream Cheese at $1 each
2 Frigo String Cheese $2.99- used $1/1 coupon
Lemon .50
Craisins $2.99 for 2 bags (and these are blueberry and pomegranate flavored- yummy!)
Organic Fresh Chives $1.99
I had the $5 credit from last week’s ordeal come off plus I used the $3.50 and $3.00 cats I had from buying granola bars and fruit snacks last week. So the grand total was $.98 and then I went back through to get a gallon of milk free!

Well I broke my cardinal rule of Safeway shopping this week- which is to always keep the ads that come in my mail and cut out the in ad coupons. I didn’t bother with it this week because one would assume that a store would have its own ad available- but not mine! So anyhoo- back I went for a second trip with my ad from the Sunday paper.

Here is this week’s Safeway trip. I had a terrible cashier this go around that didn’t scan half the coupons I gave him. I also bought several items on clearance and he didn’t adjust the price for any of them. So to keep it simple I will just post what I should have paid. Customer service was closed when I shopped, but I did call back and complained and now I have to go back to the store to get a refund. The amount I was overcharged was close to $20- so a huge amount on a fairly small trip.
Goldfish Crackers $1.50- used .75/1 from magazine and had .75 e-coupon= Free
7 cans Campbell Soup- $1 each- used (7) .55/1 peelies from the cans, had $1.50 e-coupon come off= $1.65 for all 7
2 S&W Black Beans $1= $2
Mission Tortillas .99- Used .55/1 coupon, had 2 .55 e-coupons come off= .66 overage
2 O Organics Soups on clearance $1.30 each= $2.59
2 Grands Biscuits $1 each= Used $1/2 coupon= $1
3 Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls $1 each= Used $1/2 coupon, used .35/1 peelie and had $1.60 in e-coupons= .05 for 3
Pillsbury Simply Cookies $2.50- used free item coupon (I think from Kraft First Taste)
Cream $1.99
2 Lucerne Cottage Cheese $1.79= $3.58
2 Lucerne Yogurt on clearance = $.90
6 packages Scotch Brite sponges 3pks $2.50 each- Used (3) $1/2 coupons= $12
Farmer John’s Sausage $1.25- used .75/1 coupon, and had (3) .75 e-coupons come off= 1.75 overage
Pork Chops $6.79
Bananas $1.50
Green Grapes $1.95
Red Grapes $2.16
2 Raisins .99 each= $1.98
10lb Potatoes $2.99
V-8 Soup on clearance $1.89- used $1 coupon= .89
Total should have been $42.61 but I should have had a $3 cat for Pillsbury and a $5 cat for Scotch Brite back. Of course the cat machine was blinking red lights so it was out of paper. My store is supposed to just give me a gift card instead which I will use next week.
The Scotch Brite sponges pushed me over budget this week but that is one thing that I never find deals on. Now we have plenty to last for several months and they worked out to .38 each which is a great price.

I had $3 in ECB expiring today so I popped into CVS-
I got 4 bags of Emerald Pecans for $2.99/2 bags (they are BOGO this week). I used (4) $1/1 coupons- making the final price .49 per bag.
I got a .50/2 M&Ms coupon at the scanner so I bought 3 bags- they are Buy 2 at $.89 and get 1 free this week.
So after $3 ECB my grand total was $.29.
If you are planning a trip you might grab the $1/3 from 7/25 SS for M&Ms- if you get the coupon scanner coupon as well it would be .39 after all3 bags!

Here is this week’s shopping. I am super happy to be under budget as I can splurge on a few extra things this week like good cheese, puff pastry and pesto.
So here is what I did- I did just two stores this week:
SAFEWAY #1:
5 Fruit Snacks .99 each- Used (2) .50 coupons and had a .50 e-coupon come off
Kix Cereal $1.49- Used .75/1 coupon and .75/1 e-coupon
Eggs .99
Almond Milk $3.29- used .55/1 coupon
2 Gogurts $2 each- Used (2) .85/1 coupons and had a total of $2.25 in e-coupons come off!
Salad $1.99
Blueberries $1.99
I paid $8.20. Sadly, this time my $1 produce coupon did not come off. I used a $3 cat from last time and paid $8.20. Then I got another $3 cat from Almond Milk and $3 for the fruit snacks!
SAFEWAY #2:
Kix Cereal $1.49- used .75/1 coupon
Wesson $2.99
2 Pillsbury Rolls $1.99 each- used .40/2
2 Simply Potatoes $2 each- used (2) .55/1 coupons
Whipped Cream $1.99
Almond Milk $3.29- used .55/1 coupon
London Broil $7.86*
Londoin Broil $7.80- used $2/10 Rancher’s Reserve coupon
Bananas $1.83
Cucumbers $1.65
Bagged Salad $1.99
Scallions $.79
Tomatoes $1.39
Blueberries $1.99
I used the (2) $3/1 cats from above and paid $28.21. I have no idea what happened but I was only charged $3.86 for the first huge pack of London Broil. I think the cashier scanned the coupon twice or maybe I have saved it to my card and it finally worked. I actually printed the coupon this time rather than trusting the e-coupon. Anyway, I won’t complain about the produce coupon not working in Transaction #1 because I figure it all evens out in the end.
I also got a $3 cat for the Almond milk for next time.
RALEYS:
Pie Crust $2.38
Kids Lunchbox $2.98- free with coupon
2 La Creme yogurts $1.99- used (2) $1/1 coupons
Brown Sugar $2.59
Cocoa $4.39
Ortho Wax $1.19 x 2, $2.39
I used a $10 cat from a few weeks ago and paid $6.50
So the total this week was $42 plus I did an $8 trip early in the week. So right on budget actually at $50. But I also got $17 in rebates so I will be buying a few extras later this week.

Sorry this picture is so awful- you should be able to click on it to enlarge. I promise to start using a real camera next week and not my phone.
I went a little crazy this week because we needed a lot of food. I am still getting used to braces and I basically have to create a whole new menu for myself now- which means lots of non chew items. Amazing how many things I can’t eat these days. Anyhow, I received $22 in rebate checks this week and I decided to go ahead and add them back into the budget. I usually buy rebate items out of my budget and then add the rebate checks back into the budget when they arrive. Lately I haven’t needed to add them back in and we have just been depositing them into savings. But this week I went for it and man it seems like that extra $20 got us a ton of food.
Here is what I did:
RALEYS: $18.38

2 Padrinos Tortilla Chips $.99 after coupon
10 Kraft Cheese bags .49 after catalina- bags of cheese were marked down to $1.49 because they expire in a week. There were at least 30 bags total so I left plenty for others. (These freeze perfectly.)
