I think I used Ultra Fine but the thicker pens actually work a little better for the large circle in the center. The fine worked for the little dots outside the circle. I actually just used the pens I had on hand so the shirts will look good with either a regular sharpie or thinner ones- it will just make your circles larger to use a thicker one pen. HTH!
