I know a lot of you are planning your Thanksgiving dinner shopping and I thought I’d give you a rough idea of what good stock up prices are for various food items.

These are just a very general guideline and this will vary tremendously based on your city, the grocery stores in your area and of course if you have double coupons.

I live in a high cost of living area with little grocery store competition and no double coupons so my prices tend to be a little higher.

Here are some ballpark prices though for items you might have on your list:

  • Sweet Potatoes  $0.39-.69/lb
  • Spiral Ham $1.49-1.89/lb
  • Flour, 5 lb $1.99
  • Cool Whip $.50
  • Butter, 16 oz $1.99
  • Green Beans 14.5 oz can $.45-.52
  • Cream of Chicken or Mushroom Soups $.50
  • Gravy (jar) $.66-.90
  • Stuffing Mix (box) $.50
  • Cake Mix $1.00
  • Frosting $1.25
  • Apples (per lb) $.99 (organic I will pay up to $1.45/lb)
  • Turkey (frozen) $.49-.69/lb
  • Chicken Broth- carton $.99-1.50
  • Clementine Tangerines/5 lb box $4.99
  • Cream Cheese $.99
  • Celery (1 bunch) $.99 (organic tends to be the same price)
  • Rolled Pie Crusts $1.75
  • Evaporated Milk 12 oz $.50-.75
  • Chocolate Chips $1.75-1.99
  • Sweetened Condensed Milk $1
  • Brown Sugar 2lbs $1.50-1.99
  • Fresh Cranberries $1.99/bag
  • potatoes, 5 lb bag $.99 (organic I pay $2.50)
Hopefully that helps!
And you can check out an easy way to cook up a turkey in the crock pot here.  And if you missed it at the start of the month, you can see the November Fresh produce and grocery sale guide here for all the items we typically see on sale this month.

    Cathy,

The 15oz size is free at Raleys with the $20 purchase or Sprouts has organic canned pumpkin for $1.50. Do you have Sprouts yet? I got the 3 free items at Raleys today with $12 in groceries plus $8 in free item coupons that I had been savings.
