I tried buying the Bic dry erase markers at Staples today with the coupon and they wouldn’t accept. I don’t know if it was just my Staples but they said the coupon could not be combined with another offer. So bummed! Still picked the markers up anyway…can’t beat the $1 price tag! Thanks for the tip.
I agree Melissa. Your store was incorrect- there isn’t another “offer” other then a sale price. Of course you can use a coupon on a sale item- that is the whole idea of coupons ;). With office supply stores they don’t have written coupon policies so you really don’t have much of an argument unless you want to get a manager involved and all that. I usually just roll my eyes internally from frustration and leave it at that ;P.
@Melissa: I had that happen to me at staples the other day. I tried getting their 25 cents pens with the $1/2 and I would have been fine that the coupon drop down to 50 cents. They said they can’t price modify coupons. So I call the manager. He says we can’t use the coupon because the coupon had another offer or something. (Two dif excuses I have received)
Well, they had two single purple ink bic pens on sale for 50 cents each and so I use the coupon on those. Well, they only took 50 cents off with the coupon instead of a dollar. And I thought they couldn’t price modify coupons?
Went back in the store and the manager was like, “So in your words, you’re saying it’s free” And I said, “Yes” and they refunded 50 cents back w/tax.
I saw Staples also had a BIC 2 pack of Wite-Out for .50 cents… do you think that qualify for the $1 off 2 BIC items or not?
