Update: as of 9/13 it appears the bonus Register Rewards are no longer printing.
Well here is a shot to get a crazy good deal at Walgreens on Gain Laundry Soap and get some free dish soap while you are at it!
There is a national catalina deal running at a bunch of stores- including Walgreens. Some of you might remember this one from Safeway a few weeks ago.
Buy 1 Gain Laundry Soap plus 2 other Gain products and get a $3.00 catalina.
There is a second overlapping catalina running just at Walgreens- buy 1 Gain Laundry Soap and 2 other Gain items and get a $3 Register Reward.
Now if that is not enough for you, there is a 3rd Register Reward advertised in the weekly circular- spend $30 on select Proctor and Gamble items (including Gain) and get a $10.00 RR back.
So all 3 of those are in play right now but this can change at any moment. As of now, these deals are working- most likely Walgreens will put an end to this soon so you might want to try and get to the store soon.
{DEAL IDEA}
(1) Gain Powder Detergent 30 load $5 each
(2) Gain Dish Liquid $1.79 each
Total = $8.58
Use (1) – $2/1 Tide or Gain Powder Detergent, any- 09-11-11 SS x10/31
Use (2) – $.50/1 Gain Dishwashing Liquid, Any – 08-14-11 RP x9/30
Total = $5.58, Get Back $3 RR Gain & $3 Bonus RR Gain
= FREE (and you make $.42!)
Now I don’t like powder soap, so here is another idea:
{DEAL IDEA}
(1) Gain Liquid $5 each
(2) Gain Dish Liquid $1.79 each
Total = $8.58
(1) – $1/1 Gain Detergent, Any – 08-14-11 RP x9/30
(2) – $.50/1 Gain Dishwashing Liquid, Any – 08-14-11 RP x9/30
Total = $6.58, Get Back $3 RR Gain & $3 Bonus RR Gain
= $.58 for everything or $.19 EACH!
OR if you really want to stock up:
{DEAL IDEA}
(3) Gain Powder Detergent 30 load $5 each
(2) Bounty Paper Towels 6pk $5.50 each
(1) Cascade ActionPacs 15ct $4
Total = $30
(3) – $2/1 Tide or Gain Powder Detergent, any- 09-11-11 SS x10/31
(2) -$1/1 Bounty Towels or Napkins, any – 08-28-11 PG x9/30
(1) – $1/1 Cascade Product, any – 08-28-11 PG x9/30
Total = $21 and get back a total of $16.00 in Register Rewards
= $5 FOR EVERYTHING or $.83 EACH!
So just to clarify, the dish soap is working for those (2) $3 Register Rewards but it is not included in that $10 Register Reward.
Let us know how it works out for you! Oh and I’d love to hear if anyone finds the Muddy Buddy Chex Mix included in the $.99 Chex Mix deal this week?
(Thanks Wild for Wags)

wowza!!!! That is an awesome deal!!!!!
makes your head spin right? I am so tempted but I just HATE Register Rewards 😛 So what to do with the stupid things once you get them.
i hate them too!!!! LOL…and i have nothing else to roll them into right now!
Charlene I agree with you, I hate RR in this case if I were to buy this deal I would turn around and spend it on something I need at this very moment. I tempted as well to run to this deal but am afraid it won’t work to my advantage. Thanks for posting!!!
Hyland’s Cough and Cold for kids is $4.99 next week with a $4.99 RR back. Blistex is $2 with a $2 RR back. Those are ideas for next week. The Huggies is a good deal too and that also runs next week.
The 25th, Renu is $6.99 w/ a $5 RR and there are $2 coupons. Zarbees for kids will be $5.99 w/ a $5.99 RR. W maxi pads are $2 with a $2 RR.
So that $10 RR will be easier to roll the week of the 25th.
If you go for the $10 RR when you spend $30, do you have to have a total of $30 after coupons? I tried a deal with P&G a couple of weeks ago and my total had to be $30 after coupons and sales.
Today’s tide/gain $2 off powder soap scans for liquid laundry soup.
I like cvs is better. 🙂
Sarah that would be fraud though 🙂 But thank you for the comment!
Susie, in general no you need to hit $30 before coupons only. If your store is a stinker and sets up there own sort of perimeters for deals well you are stuck with that.
Charlene,
I think the Muddy Buddy Chex Mix coupon that I have lists the size as a 10.5 oz bag (i think), but definately a larger size bag, so probably not…My store did not have the muddy buddy mix, only turtle and dark chocolate flavors in the smaller size bags for 99 cents.
Both of my local stores said the powder wasn’t included in the $5 sale. Still a great price for the liquid though!
Going to try this tonight (correction–my HUSBAND is going to try this since I dislike WG so much) But OT–thanks for the heads up on the Hylands, I love their kids line.
I was told that the Gain was not part of the P & G deal…I did not get the RR $10
Shelia it is listed in the ad. I think it is page 12 and it is pretty clearly part of it. Just the laundry soap not the dish soap.
Kirsten, I didn’t do this myself but Christie did and she bought the powder and it worked fine. I think to be safe, the liquid still works out to be a nice deal with the lower value coupon.
Ah gotcha. But boy does that stuff look good!
Ok, QUESTION: the RR that says “buy 1 gain laundry soap + 2 other gain products” -Does that include laundry soap as the “other products?” I assume so bc your last scenario was only 3 laundry soaps, but just wanna be sure…
I tried my store. The powder rings up at 10.99 PG 12 in my ad only shows liquid. ;(
also, the ad only shows the gain liquid in the $30 deal, not the powder. could that be where people’s problems are???
@ Charlene they were out of the powder kind. Also the worker told me at a different visit while I was shopping of a few brand products that their coupons work on any of their brand not just what they show on the coupon.
I bought 6 of the laundry soap to get the $10 RR along with the (2) $3 RR.
Sarah- it is such a common thing to do. I don’t think people consider it to be wrong- which is I am sure the case with the guy that passed along the wrong information. But sadly the wording on the coupon is what has to be followed so if it says powder it has to be used on powder :(. I look at it like if you walked down the street and knocked over an old lady and raced off. Just because you didn’t get caught it still doesn’t make it OK to knock over old ladies ;D. Huggies coupons do the same thing- it is a bar code issue that is being corrected this year actually at considerable expense to the manufacturers and retailers but once the new bar codes are in place it won’t work like that anymore.
Ok well if the powder size is twice as much my guess is that the sizes are not the same. Your store probably doesn’t carry the smaller size of powder. So I would recommend simply following the transaction that best suits your needs, the policies at your store and the products available to you. If the deal doesn’t seem to make sense for you I would just skip it this time around. I am sure we will see another great deal on laundry soap before too long.
Jenn, the ad shows liquid. The powder has been working for those that have tried it. I can’t offer any other insight. I would just get the liquid if you don’t want to take any chances and pay the extra $1. I looked at the deals and they all looked pretty good to me no matter how you work it.
My younger daughter just started grad school so I’m sure she’ll appreciate the practically free laundry & dish detergent I got. As always, thanks for the timely update on a great deal!!!
You know I just looked again and I don’t see where is says liquid? I wonder if the powder issue has to do with not being the right size? The ad says 24-32 loads and pictures liquid but doesn’t specify.
Jenn- you need to buy 1 laundry soap in powder or liquid form and then you can choose 2 other products- either dish soap or more laundry soap. The dish soap just comes into play because it is less money out of pocket. So mix and match however you want just make sure one item is laundry soap.
Two weeks ago, I got a $10 RR for buying P&G products. Can I use that RR to buy Gain? It’s expiring on 9/12 and I can’t think of anything else that I need/want to buy.
No Sylvia your other rewards won’t print. The national one for Gain for $3 probably will but then the other $3 one and the $10 one won’t. What about eggs and milk?
Went to Walgreens in Northern AZ last night and deal worked fine! I got 4 Gain Liquids and 2 Oral B Battery Brushes with a $2 P&G coupon to get to my $30. Received the $10 and two $3 RR’s just fine! I turned around and used the two $3 RR’s to get the Airwick Sense and Sprays on two seperate transactions for .99. Got two more $3RR back! 🙂
On a side note….there are many P&G items not pictured in the Walgreens ad that will qualify toward the $30 total to get the $10 RR.
I just came back from WAG’s and bought one Gain powder and two Gain liquid detergents, each for $5 The powder that is on sale is the 30 load one, not the 40 load, (the 40 load powder is $10+ at my WAGS) I also bought 2 Tide Stain release-$4 each as well as two packs of Cascade action packs (15 count) $4 each.
I used the Stain Release $1.50/2 in P&G 8/28
(2) $1/1 Cascade
(1) $2/1 Gain powder SS 9/11
(2) $1/1 Gain liquid
Also had RR’s from before worth $6 (had to get two carmel fillers- yum getting addicted to them!)
my subtotal was $18.49 and I got $16 RR’s back!!!
Oh great! Ok so the problem might have been the load size. Glad it worked out Nat!
I was wondering what the extra $3 print out was for. Now I know. Thanks for all you do.
Thanks so much Charlene. Its an awesome deal that can be reworked with all the products they have under the promo. Yup the Gain issue is the load size, I initially planned to pick up 3 powders (@ 30 loads ea) but improvised to the 2 liquids because the powders were wiped clean off shelves, I got the last powder box from way back…but can see how they can be mixed up because there were a few 40 load boxes where the 30 loads were supposed to be that I almost grabbed until I double checked. I wish I had the $1 bounty coupons, which insert were those from? I only got the $0.25/1 bounty from 8/28 P&G…
Oh Nat those were regional. I have never had more than .25 coupons for Bounty either.
Oh thanks, Charlene…wish I read your reply an hour sooner, I just looked through all my inserts to no avail! Lol! ah well, all for good reason, ended up finding a few coupons I almost forgot about that I planned to use. My friend is going to try the deal with bounty and different items, I just might get inspired to go stock up on paper towels too. Thanks again!
Thanks so much Nat! I wanted to also do a version that included the dish detergent so I did almost exactly the same deal. Paid 20 got 16 back.
I also did this deal:
1 Gain Liquid $5
2 Gain Dishsoap $2.19 ( grrr, they were not 1.79 🙁 )
So ended up paying like .19 each. I sure wish they had Gain Dryer sheets, those I could really use! lol
I only got one 3 RR for the deal 1. May be they corrected the error ?
anyone else tried today? I finally remember to clip the Q and was going to make the run today if any stock left. but I do not prefer to make the trip if 2nd $3 RR not printing.
why is there two -$3 RR ? are they different or exact same?
Does anyone know if the national catalina was just on the 30 load size powder? My store was out, but they had the 40 load size powder. There was no sale price listed, but I did a price check and it rang up for $4.99. I grabbed two of the liquid dish soap in hopes of getting both $3 OYNO coupons, but I only got 1 $3 RR, not the catalina.
You’re welcome Carrie…glad to have helped. Hmm I’m not so sure, dont think its still working today, my best friend went this morning and said only one $3 RR printed for her….but might have been a fluke, anyone know?
Laura, I don’t think there was a specific size listed. I think the overlapping catalinas have just ended now. That is my guess.
Here in Phoenix, AZ The powder is NOT $5, I had the cashier scan it and it rang up $10.99. So i got 1 liquid gain $5 and 2 gain dish soaps and only one $3RR printed. 🙁
CouponBliss- did you check the size of the powder? From what we have gathered the 40 load is the one that is more expensive. You can read more comments about that above. The ad does say the 26-32 load is the one that is $5.00. So are you certain you checked the 30 load powder and that was $10.99?
Also, as I mentioned in the post, the overlapping catalinas could end at anytime. I posted on Sunday, so now that it is Tuesday afternoon I believe it has ended. With deals like that, Walgreens tends to correct them within a day or two so if you can’t hit the store right away the chances of getting the deal decrease.
This is what I said in the post:
“So all 3 of those are in play right now but this can change at any moment. As of now, these deals are working- most likely Walgreens will put an end to this soon so you might want to try and get to the store soon.”
So just keep in mind that on these RR glitches in particular it is usually about a 24 hour window before it is corrected. They don’t last the entire week.
