Well hello! Amazon is announcing new Kindles and new prices today which makes me excited because one of these babies is on my Christmas shopping list this year.
So here are the options you can get- note shipping is free on each of these items:
Kindles– this is the starter Kindle and if you get it with special offers* the price is just $79! Without special offers is $109.
Kindle Touch– this is a new touch version that comes out 11/21. The price on the Kindle Touch with special offers is $99 and without special offers is $139. You can preorder now for delivery on the 21st.
Kindle Touch 3G– With special offers is $149 or without is $189. These also ship on 11/21 and you can preorder now.
Kindle Fire– Whoot! This one looks super cool and I promise I will get a giveaway together for this little lovely. It is full color and touch screen. This is released on 11/15 and you can preorder.
I wanted to get a Kindle for my Father in law for Christmas so I am going to preorder myself. There is a chance Amazon will raise prices so if you have your eye on these it might not be a bad idea to order now. I believe you can always cancel the order if you change your mind before it ships and get a refund.
*If you are not familiar with “special offer” devices, it is a cheaper version of the Kindle and the reason is they have commercials on the device.
These have “sponsored screensavers” (aka commericals) that come up when you are not reading on your device. Amazon has an example of the screensaver pictured here.
The screensavers are not supposed to be intrusive to your reading at all and apparently it also comes with special offers. The offers can be anything from coupons to online coupon codes etc…
I was very skeptical about these sponsored offers and originally I thought they sounded annoying. I have changed my mind though based on the feedback from readers. I keep hearing that people are getting amazing coupon codes from Amazon as their special offer (Like $25 off a $50 purchase or $10 off a $10 purchase) so if I buy a Kindle for myself I would probably get the sponsored kind.

Is the Kindle fire a full blown tablet??? I watched the video and It seems to me it has all the tablet capabilities..email..facebook..flash. What are others out their thinking?
