I did a quick but painful trip to Safeway today (had kiddos with me but thankfully we all survived.)
We had a voucher from Groupon for a delivery of Organic produce that was expiring last week, so we got a nice box of organic fruits and veggies on Thursday. I didn’t really need a lot but here is my Safeway trip:
4 boxes of Cheerios $.99 each after coupon
2 Hamburger Buns $2 each
1 Open Nature wheat bread $2.50- used $1 coupon
4. Simply Fruit Snacks $.99 each- used (2) $.50/2 coupons= $.74 each
2 Dannon Yogurt $1.49- used $1/1 coupons= .49
1 Organic Milk $5.99
1 Organic Celery $1.99
2 Safeway Pizza Dough $.99 each (these are great to make breadsticks as well!)
Blue Cheese $4.99- used $.55 coupon= $4.44
2 Organic Lemonade $1.50
2 Box Cupcake Mix $.99 each (we have kiddos coming over tomorrow for a BBQ)
2 Dreyer’s Smoothie/Shake $1.00- Used $1 coupons= Free
1 Breyer’s Blasts $3.00- Used $3.00 Just for U coupon= Free
4 Van’s Waffles $2.50- there were coupons but I didn’t print fast enough. Used $5 off $15 frozen foods coupon= $1.25 each
Bananas $1.66
Plus I had ecoupons come off- I am not exactly sure what they were for because I don’t remember saving them but $1.75 came off so the total was $37.69.
So not really great but not terrible either. I am super excited about getting the Van’s waffles so cheap. I wouldn’t have purchased the ice cream except it helped me hit $15.00 to use the $5 off frozen foods coupon. That meant I got the Van’s for $1.25 per box. If these pass the jury tomorrow morning, I might do another run at Safeway to stock up. If you have any free item coupons for frozen food items this is a great time to use them!

If you go to bettycrocker.com, they have some higher value coupons for the items in the “buy 4, save $4” promo…. fruit snacks & granola bars. My Safeway is one of the stores that doubles, so I’m stocking up for school lunches & snacks!
Thanks Jen. My kids actually don’t get these very often it is a super, super treat for them. I just grabbed the first coupons I saw today and frankly didn’t care at all about hunting down the best possible deal ;). 2 toddlers can be pretty trying so I had exactly 1 episode of Dora to plan my menu, plan my trip, cut the coupons and get ready to go today.
Charlene, I went to Safeway tonight and got the Nature Valley Nut Thins deal. Along with my $.75 off Man. Q’s it took off an additional $2.00 in just for you ecoupons. I was so excited but I thought that Safeway was not allowing for a double dip of ecoupons and paper coupons.
Well we aren’t supposed to do it on purpose because it is against the policy. But I certainly didn’t mean to do it- I don’t even know what the extra coupons were from and I am sure you didn’t either 😉 You just have to restrain yourself from doing what is a better deal because it works and just follow the policy even if it stinks.
I have two free Tombstone pizza coupons and a two of the Dreyer shakes $1/1. I think I will be making a trip to Safeway tomorrow. Thanks for the reminder. Why is it taking so much energy these days to get out of the house and go shopping? A few months ago I would get excited, now I dread shopping (and I even refuse to take the kids)! What is wrong with me??
I know it. I can not get motivated either 😛 I had to take the children today and that was just a little taste of heaven. (Note the fruit snack bribery.)

Just a note. Some of the Breyers Blast are NOT identified as ice cream, but as frozen dairy dessert. I am not really sure what that means.
Shannon, not really. I think it is more expensive than if I went to Sprouts. The other thing is you don’t know what you will get so that is hard to menu plan. I can say what I have received is fantastic quality but you need to eat it quickly. I went through Farm Fresh to You.
I shopped at Safeway on Friday 8/12. I bought 2 Eggo mini muffin tops $4 and used 2 $1.00 off Mini Muffin Tops safeway coupons and 1 $.75 off two packages of Eggo Frozen products. So $1.25 for two!
Cathy I was thinking that I might get those but the Van’s is organic and has a little better ingredients so totally worth the extra money to me. I think the Eggos are a really great deal though!
Glad I waited for Breyers Blasts price to drop in order to get for FREE. I was vacationing in Hawaii and shopping at Sfwy there strictly using my loaded J4U eCoupons & happy to report smooth shopping. Easy Couponing while vacationing!
Oh Jolene I hope you are having a GREAT vacation! You know. To get something free in Hawaii means you deserve an extra pat on the back. I vote you treat yourself to some ice cream ;).
