Safeway: Seattle’s Best Coffee Catalina

Reader Endcapps passed along a great deal at Safeway and I had a chance to check it out today.

There is an advertisement for a $3 catalina back when you buy Seattle’s Best coffee and any box of cereal from June 29-August 2nd in store.  I found this advertised on a sign in the coffee aisle.

You must purchase both items in one transaction and this works out to be a really great deal.

Seattle’s Best coffee is priced at $6.99 at my store.

It looks like cereal starts at $1.99/box (Uncle Sam’s) or you can try these ideas:

Fiber One Cereal $2.99
Use $0.75/1 Fiber One Original, Fiber One Honey Clusters, Fiber One Clusters, Fiber One Caramel Delight, Fiber One Frosted Shredded Wheat, or Fiber One 80 Calories, exp. 7/23/11 (SS 06/12/11)
or Use $0.85/1 Fiber One Honey Clusters printable
or Use $1/1 Fiber One Original, Honey Clusters or Raisin Bran Cereal printable
Final Price: as low as $1.99

Quaker Life Cereal $2.99
Use $.75/1 from 6/19 RP
Final Price: $2.24

Kashi Cereal $2.99
Use $2/1 Kashi coupon from Recyclebank (must earn points)
Final Price: .99

You can also combine this offer with the Buy 4 Save 4 Cereal sale this week.

So the best case would be like this:

Buy Seattle’s Best at $6.99
Buy Kashi at $2.99
Use $2/1 Kashi coupon
Pay $7.98 and get back a $3 catalina!

That is a great deal!

OR Starting Wednesday, Cheerios or Honey Nut Cheerios will be $2.50.
Use the $.50/1 Cheerios coupon
Final Price: $2.00- so you would pay $8.99 for both items and get back a $3 cat!

One last thing to mention is if you have Just for U in your area (Nor CA, Hawaii and Chicago), check your account. I have a coupon for a free box of Cheerios Cinnamon Burst cereal so that means I get both items for $3.99 after catalina!

See the Safeway coupon deals for the week here.

I have a personal price in my just for u account for Seattle’s Coffee at $4.14 and a free box of cinnamon cheerios. This would make both of them for $1.14 after catalina! 🙂

Sarah I had that price too but I bought my coffee already. Such a great deal!

    @JJ- Nice!

So, if I buy $10 worth of stuff (easy to do!), I will get the Cheerios Cinnamon cereal for free from my Just4U account. Do I have to buy another box of cereal to get the catalina or does the free box count when I buy the Seattle’s best coffee. I think I have a coupon for the coffee as well ($1.00).
Thanks for all you do–has saved me tons! Just wish we had a Sprouts market.

Mary, I haven’t tested it myself but it should work. Plus the price of the coffee will count so you are already $6.99 of the way there.

I tried J4U Free Cinnamon Burst + Coffee + Frozen Chicken Breasts. No Cat, but Customer Service gave me back $3 cash. Maybe the Free cereal caused the problem?

Spotted, but didn’t try, a $1.49 cereal Pantry Essentials (or something) which is an 8oz sized box.

Ok I am going to try it as well. I wonder if the cat will print if you don’t enter your card info until the end? Also, I am wondering if it would work with hot cereal since the Mom’s best is usually about $1.

I tried with Cascadian Farms cereal from 50%-off Clearance shelf & it worked. Lots of cereal on this clearance shelf–Annie’s Organic, Barbara’s, Bare Natural, Arrowhead, Cascadian all 50%-off. Mgr said it’s a reset for natural/organic cereal. My cereal exp. date is Apr 2012.
    1–Cascadian Farms cereal…$2.35 (clearance)
    1–Seattle’s Best coffee…$6.99
Used coupons: $1 Cascadian MQ, $1 Seattle eQ
Paid $7.33 & got $3 Cat, so $4.33 for the pair

Let us know if hot cereal works, Charlene.

I wish I remembered where I got this Smartsource blinkie MQ for $1 off Seattle’s Best 12oz coffee, x7/22/11. Anyone know where this blinkie came from?

charlene, good idea to enter card at the end. This is the type of Cat which pops out immediately after the 2 items are scanned

Thanks for the info on Kashi price. Since we are not coffee drinker so I didn’t do the Coffee and cereal deal but my husband eats only Kashi cereal and got one box for .99 cents with $2.00 off from recycle bank. I had a neat bundle of points sitting there so it was easy for me to use 125 points for the Coupon. is there any other way I can get more kashi coupon since recyclebank allows only one type of coupon per month.

EC- I tried the oatmeal and no cat. I would have tried the Cheerios but my store was out of them 🙁

Smita- I haven’t figured out a way 🙁 I would love to get more of those Kashi coupons myself.

I bought the coffee and the cinnamon burst cheerios and I did not get the cat. I did not go to customer service because they are very rude at my store. Should I call corporate or do I need to contact the catalina company?

  14. Charlene says

    07/10/2011 at 5:11 PM

Valerie, I didn’t get it either. I plan to contact catalina. If there are any problems it was clearly advertised so I will deal with my store 😉

Charlene, How do I contact catalina? Thank you for your help!

I bought Captain Crunch and it didn’t print out a catalina. The cashier called over the manager and she said it was only for general mills. My next transaction I bought Cheerios and it worked.

I called the catalina company and they said that the Cinnamon Cheerios is not listed (the upc code) as one of the cereals that qualify for this offer!!

Valerie, I forgot to call today. I read that sign several times and there was no specifics anywhere on precisely which cereal was included. What a headache. I’ll email tonight and see where I get with it.

I called Safeway back and they are crediting my card $3!

Oh sweet. Ok I will go that route too. Now can you sort out my mess at CVS for me? 😛
