Borders Bookstores Liquidation Sale (40% off)

I mentioned the Borders Liquidation sale announcement earlier this week. The details were not totally clear at that time- they mentioned some stores would start closing down as early as today (7/22).

They have announced that most stores will have 40% off sales starting today and running through 7/31.

If you have any Borders Bucks you’ll need to use those before 7/31! ย You can find a Borders location here.

It looks like the sale is available in store only.

This company was horrible it’s employees.. I know first hand! I’m glad they are going out of business but I’m sorry that the head honchos are making millions off the closing and the bottom ppl just get pink slips!! But that is how Boarders rolls!!!

40% doesn’t seem that great of a sale for liquidation. Hopefully the deals will get better.

Melinda I think so too. I say that only because 40% is the coupons they issue all the time but then again those coupons exclude sale merchandise… so we;ll have to see. I wish I had gone first thing- they always have Vera Bradley stuff at my store ๐Ÿ™‚ I am sure it is long gone now.

We drove down to the Stockton store when it closed earlier in the year. Most things were only 10-20% off and the line wrapped around the store. We didnt stay, because we knew we could get better deals shopping smart or with amazon.

20% off is terrible and you are right. Even at 40% off you can probably get better deals on Amazon ๐Ÿ™

I was over at the Roseville store yesterday and I overheard an employee saying that the deals weren’t going to be all that great, i.e. $1 books, etc. I think the sales will be up to the 40% until it closes in September with no additional stock…so it will just sit until sold. Guess we’ll see.

Just came across an old giftcard for Borders that we never spent –guess I’ll see what we can get for $20…

I just got back from my store. They had books between 10%-30% off. All of their magazines were 40% off, so I picked up some poolside reading. ๐Ÿ™‚ The cashier at my store said they were all vague on the details and did not know how much more they were going to mark things down.

It just makes me sad to see them go out of business. They are the only bookstore in my state aside from a handful of Christian bookstores and a few overpriced stores on the other side of the state in tourist towns.

Went to borders cedar hills. Most things were 10% off and no returns. Toys, books, workbooks, cookbooks were all 10%. A waste of time. The customer service desk had printed list of discount by area.’I think only one section was 40% off

If your store has a Cafe you can find coffees, teas, and accessories marked down. I had store credit to hurry & use so I picked up a Seattle’s Best Coffee Curiosity Gift Pack for $6-something.

My 3 year old daughter is going in for her 3rd open heart surgery in a few days and I was hoping to pick up some puzzle boards and such but it sounds like it’s not worth leaving the house for. Just as well, I’m happy to spend the next few days at home with my kids anyway ๐Ÿ™‚

Crystal you might have better luck in the $1 spot at Target or Amazon too. They have a Buy 3 Get 1 Free promotion with books and things and I find the prices far better than retail stores.

My prayers are with you and your baby!

Along with the other comments, don’t bother. I went in and had a handful of books before I realized they were only 10% off, but even 40% would have made them comparable to Amazon (I checked online on my phone quickly).

WEll I went today hoping to get some good deals, but most things were only 10 % discounted. There was a MOB of people, but the checkout line seemed to go quickly. It seems to me that they will take their time to discount things because people are snatching up a lot of books at only 10% off. I was sure disappointed.
