Safeway $10 Catalina Coupon Update

As many of you know Safeway had a catalina coupon offer this week: Spend $75 and get a $10 catalina coupon back.  You can see the details of this offer on the Safeway coupon matchups for the week.

The ad said the $75 was based on totals AFTER all Safeway store discounts were applied (in ad coupons etc..) but the $75 should have been based on pre-manufacturer coupon totals.

Many of you went to Safeway and spent $75 before manufacturer coupons and still didn’t get the cat.  I contacted Safeway because they clearly posted on the Facebook wall that the $75 was based on pre coupon totals.

Here is the email I finally received from them today:

Dear Charlene,

Thank you for emailing us about the Catalina coupons not printing. The $75 minimum purchase is calculated after club card savings and in store coupons, but before manufacturer coupons.

If the coupon did not print, we recommend contacting Catalina Customer Service at 1-888-826-8766. They are able to reprint coupons in the event of an error.

Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist with.

Now I heard from a few of you that did contact Catalina and were told they would not mail you the catalina. So I passed that information along to Safeway and here is the second response I received:

Dear Charlene,

We apologize for the inconvenience. We would like to research your account. Can you provide us with your club card number, or the phone number on the account, and the location of the store you usually shop at? Also, do you still have your receipt?

If your readers are experiencing any issues they can contact us with the same information. Due to privacy issues your readers will need to contact us or Catalina Customer Service individually. There are several ways to reach us. They can e-mail us at [email protected] , call us toll free at 1-877-723-3929, or submit via our web site, www.safeway.com , by clicking on the “Contact Us” link.

So this has turned out to be a bit of a hot mess, but if you care to continue to pursue this it looks like you can continue to try and get your $10 reward.

    My total after Safeway deals, coupons, etc and before tax was $80 and I didn’t get it. I sent an e-mail with my receipt number and got a response back stating that yogurt doesn’t count (I bought $3.40 in yogurt, so still over $75), but they would credit my card $10. It is worth contacting Safeway customer service via their website.

    Thanks for doing all the leg work! This was a complete pain! I have an email in, so cross my fingers ๐Ÿ˜€ But I have the feeling that my NON-dairy creamer, is going to mess it all up! We will see how it goes. Thanks for all your work

    YES! This is a big wad of mess, and I don’t think I’ll be going to any effort to get these rewards in the future (went out the evening before the promo ended, sick and it was late at night, when will I learn?). First contacted Safeway-who said I qualified but contact Catalina, then Catalina-who said I didn’t qualify, now Safeway again. They are really making us sweat for this ten bucks! Not worth it!

    I’m rather pissed about my last shopping trip. The first $10 printed out a few days ago. The second one did not, but CS pushed it through for me and printed one. I used both of them on my third trip yesterday, and apparently they both qualify as a Safeway Q, so the third $10 did not print. What really sucks is that if I had used only one of the $10 Q’s, it should have qualified! So, back to CS to argue my case…..

    I emailed Safeway yesterday and was told my purchase before tax was below $75 (this is for last week’s catalina, this week’s printed out fine). They didn’t address my inquiry about the $75 being calculated without tax, and before manufacturer coupons. So I guess I will reply to the email and see what happens.
