Safeway Coupon Deals March 30-April 5

03/29/2011 By Charlene 30 Comments

This post may contain affiliate links, please see my disclosure policy.

You can see Safeway’s coupon policy right here. Most stores will allow you to stack a manufacturer coupon with the store coupons that can be found in the weekly circulars. You will want to be sure to get a club card for Safeway to take advantage of the sale prices! Safeway sale prices tend to vary from region to region so you will always want to double check your local ad! Also, I do not have double coupons in my area so your prices are likely much better than mine!

Be sure to read about the new Just for U program rolling out at Safeway!

…Click Below to See the Complete List of Deals….

This week they are offering a special promotion, Spend $75 in one transaction from Wed-Tues and get a $10 coupon back to use on your next purchase. You will want to check the ad for exclusions as there are several including alcohol and liquid dairy items. There is a limit of 1 per transaction. This should be calculated after any Safeway discounts but before manufacturer coupons. Last time around people did not get catalinas when they spent less than $75 after coupons, so you might need to contact customer service to correct the problem.

LOVE the *’s. They’re so helpful to me, and would especially be helpful to a beginner.

    Thanks for everything!!!

  2. motherfish says

    03/30/2011 at 12:33 AM

Like them, but I would want something even more prominent so I could identify good bargains better.

  3. Cuc says

    * are helpful. I have another site that puts the good deals in red. Just a thought.

  4. Leanne says

    03/30/2011 at 7:03 AM

I like the asterisks also. There has been many times when I’ve thought “I wonder if Charlene thinks that is a good deal.”
    Thanks!

  5. Carissa says

I like the *’s completely helpful!!

  6. Liz says

    03/30/2011 at 10:05 AM

The Golden Grains $1/2 coupon is in the 3/27 SS.

In my Just for U account the Johnsonville Sausage is $1.99. So
    with the $1/1 coupon it’s only $.99!

  7. Charlene says

    03/30/2011 at 10:10 AM

Oh thank you Liz!! Those are never in the databases because Golden Grains isn’t distributed that widely.

  8. Lori says

    03/30/2011 at 10:39 AM

My paper has, for Friday only, 20oz bags of Wonderful Pistachios for $5. Use the $1 off coupon listed above. Great price!

  9. laura says

the * is VERY helpful. love it!

  10. Nicole says

    03/30/2011 at 11:13 AM

Yeah, I have the $1.99 Just For U price on the Johnsonville as well. I guess I will have to make a trip to Safeway on Friday (I need the strawberries!!) Thanks for the matchups. I like the *’s as well.

  11. Sylvia says

    03/30/2011 at 11:25 AM

The * is helpful, though not readily noticeable. What about highlighting the good deals in a diff color? I’m glad for the tips. I too have been wondering whether such & such deal is good enough to buy. Thanks for all that you do.

  12. Stephanie says

    03/30/2011 at 11:25 AM

There is a coupon in RP 02/06/11 for Dulcinea for $.55 and expires 5/15/11. Not super great but better than paying full price.
    HTH.

  13. Charlene says

    03/30/2011 at 11:28 AM

Oh I was looking for that one too. Thanks Stephanie!

  14. Charlene says

    03/30/2011 at 12:55 PM

I will play with it and see if I can make it more prominent. Personally I am not a fan of lots of colors in matchups because it hurts my eyes to look at all that mess. Let me see if I can come up with something better.

My paper has, for Friday only, 20oz bags of Wonderful Pistachios for $5. Use the $1 off coupon listed above. Great price….. >@ Lori where did you find that , I have looked everywhere could not find it 🙁

  16. Carla M says

    03/30/2011 at 1:23 PM

I like the idea of the *, but I didn’t even notice it until I saw it discussed in the comments section.

  17. Melissa says

    03/30/2011 at 2:04 PM

I love knowing your take on what is a great deal, but maybe you could designate it with an exclamation mark! I dont know if that would work or look good. The asterisk makes me think you are putting a foot note in and I go looking for that at the bottom. But I could get used to it and just know that that is what you mean 🙂 Thank you for everything!

  18. Judith says

    03/30/2011 at 5:29 PM

I’ve got a Just for U price of $1.50 for Girard’s Dressings!!! That means FREE dressing!! with the $2 coupon…has anybody gotten that J4U deal too?

  19. valerie says

    03/30/2011 at 8:14 PM

I also received the just for u for Girard’s Dressing! I also had the classico for $1.49 and there is a $1.00 off coupon on the classico site.

  20. Stacey says

    03/31/2011 at 8:52 AM

I also got the just 4 u johnsonville sausages at 1.99 that means with coupon only .99. Yummy

  21. Sandi says

    03/31/2011 at 9:56 AM

Have you heard of a new policy that Safeway will only allow one printed coupon for like item? I bought 4 boxes of oscar mayer deli creations. I had (2) coupons for $1/2, and they would only accept one even though I bought enough items. They said it was a new policy for internet coupons. I just wondered if anyone had this happen?

  22. Lissa says

    03/31/2011 at 10:54 AM

I definitely think that somehow designating the better deals is great, but the asterik is a little unnoticeable/misleading. I also am not a fan of a bunch of different colors.

One of the other blogs that I read uses a small symbol beside the deals (similar to where the checkbox sits), to notify if something is a good deal, or a great deal. It is small, a different color, but obvious and not obnoxious. Maybe something like that? Don’t want to make the whole thing too annoying for you to manage though! Even just something like:

    !*!* Grape $0.50/lb !*!*

Would be easy enough to type in but make it easy to see for the reader

    Thanks!!

I went to Safeway yesterday and spend over $75 dollars. I did not buy any of the excluded items. I then used manufacturers coupons and it didn’t print. I then went to customer service and they said that manufacturers coupons count as part of the “all other discounts and savings”. I then went home and called to catalina company. They said told me the same thing. They told me that this promotion was different and that the total OOP needed to be more than $75, not including tax, crv, or excluded items. THE DEAL DOES NOT WORK IF THE TOTAL IS UNDER $75.00 AFTER MANUFACTURERS COUPONS.

  24. Charlene says

    04/01/2011 at 11:02 AM

Justine, please don’t scream at me on every single Safeway post it is really not necessary. I would recommend addressing your anger to Safeway’s customer service person on Facebook who posted the following:

“Safeway ‎@ Scott Ladell, The minimum purchase is calculated after club card savings and store coupons, but before manufacturer coupons.”

“Safeway We apologize for the frustration Ana. We would like to help. Can you email us at [email protected] with your club card number so we can research your account? The minimum $75 purchase is calculated after club card savings and store coupons, but before manufacturer coupons. The coupon should print out automatically when the requirement is met. -Brittani, Customer Service”

So to me that would indicate before manufacturer coupons. If Safeway is refusing to honor what they said I don’t know what I can do about that.

  25. Judith says

Just came from Safeway. Bought 2 of the J4U Girards dressings for $1.50, used the self-checkout and the $2 Girard coupons did not want to work, the cs lady went to get the manager and they told me they couldn’t adjust the coupons down on the self-checkout machine, so I returned the Girards…
I’ll try it next time through the regular checkout 🙁

  26. Charlene says

What a PIA Judith 🙁 Thanks for letting us know.

Charlene, I was not in any way trying to scream at you. I just wanted to put the information in bold for someone who was taking a quick glance at the long post. I apoligize for making you feel that I was screaming at you. I had just had a hard time finding the information for myself on any of the blogs and wanted to share my experience with anyone who was trying to find the information quickly. I was trying to be helpful. If you would like me to remove the posts I am happy to do so.

Annie – I’m in Maryland, it might be regional thing. But it shows up in my paper with the four day specials. Sent my husband tonight, he came back with 8 bags. He is a definite pistachio lover!

On a side note – he was at $75 before man q’s, $61 after, cat did not print.

  30. Charlene says

    04/02/2011 at 12:31 PM

You know on FB people are saying they spent well over $75- one lady spent $244- and they still are not getting the cats and the store is not giving them to people. I think Safeway has really dropped the ball on this promotion.
