Walgreens: Kraft Homestyle Mac and Cheese $.16 per bag

I wanted to highlight this deal because it is such a good one.  Starting tomorrow Walgreens will have Kraft Homestyle Mac and Cheese priced at $1.66.

There should be a $2/2 coupon in tomorrow’s paper.  I was excited for it to be $.66 but readers Emily and Christy found $1/2 coupons in the Walgreens January coupon book that will make these bags just $.16 each!!

They are normally priced around $2 or more so this is a great deal.

If you are new to Walgreens, you can get the Walgreens coupon books right at the front of the store.  You just need one of the coupons and it will take off the .50 for each bag that you purchase.

Sweet! This is good stuff, I’ve gotten several bags for free (or very close) over the last few months.

Aubrey you didn’t get the coupon in tomorrow’s paper? Did you get your paper early?

My coupon was $1/1 in this mornings paper, but if you like their facebook page, there is an additional $.50 coupon 🙂

I got it! I had 8 coupons… But it was walgreens so of course their were issues. First she told me i owed her 4.74…..i said noway… Not at .16 per bag….then she said it was because i was trying to use two mgf coupons….i had to educate her that one was a mgf coupon and one was a wag coupon and it is ok to stack them. Then she got angry so i slapped 4 carmels on the counter and told her to do the transaction again and i owed 2.32! I walked out with a huge grin on my face! So the trick is make sure u have item to coupon correct.

I am confused!!!!! On my coupon from Walgreens-from the instant value coupon book for January- it says “manufacturer coupon” in the fine print. I thought that if the coupon says those words anywhere on it, it can’t be combined with another manufacturer’s coupon. Please help. I am new and can’t wait to make my first good deal…..

Hi Charlene. I have another newby question. I know that at Walgreens the number of coupons cannot exceed the number of items in the transaction. Does a $1/2 coupon count as 1 or 2 coupons? Thanks so much for your help. I really appreciate what you are doing!

Jenny that is not exactly correct. If it was a manufacturer coupon you would be able to walk into any store and use it. Those coupons can only be used at Walgreens as you can see from the barcode. The Walgreens coupon policy is here and you can see it does allow stacking coupons:

Normally I would tell you not to worry it will be perfect but I did this today and my coupons beeped. Beeping is not a big deal anywhere except Walgreens is a massive pain about it. Most cashiers will refuse coupons if they beep. So I would go for and you might need to have a manager come and push the coupons through. It isn’t that big of a deal and you can test the waters by just buying 1 bag. Use that $1 off coupon first and the worst case is you can’t use both coupons and you are out .66 for a $2 bag of Mac and cheese. The Walgreens coupon is for $1/2 but those coupons will actually take .50 off for each.

I hope that makes sense. Really you just have to jump in and start testing your stores and see where you like to shop and which ones make it easy to shop. Then you can start focusing your time and energy on those stores. I literally park in front of a Walgreens 4 days a week when I go to the gym and I still almost never shop there because my store stinks. You might find you have a perfectly lovely store and you can’t wait to go back.

This deal is a good one to test out your store and see how it all works out for you.

Erin- it depends. Some coupons will attach to two items. Like a BOGO coupon is technically one coupon but if it is coded with a “14” in the barcode that means it will attach to 2 items.

I ran into that problem today…ALL of my coupons beeped because I had used the WAG coupon book Q’s first and it deducted then it wouldn’t take ANY of the rest of my coupons. The had to call for a manager who pushed them through. All of those WAGs coupons now are ringing up MANF coupons so I’m afraid we’ll have more and more trouble stacking! There’s one checker at my WAGs who I love, love, love! He a young kid…but he pushes all of them through without even calling the manager up there. He knows the policy and doesn’t give me any flack about it. I think from now on, if I go there and he’s not working…I’m going to turn around and leave…I’ve had problems every other time going there! 🙂 The cashier today told me that I couldn’t get the $5 RR for the proglide razor because I used a $4 off Q for it….Then it printed and she acted like she wasn’t going to give it to me. She had to call the manager back up there to approve giving me my register rewards after they’d printed! She said it wasn’t fair because I only spent $5 out of my pocket and shouldn’t get so much back. The manager told her to give them to me…but it was a little annoying…Does anyone else have issues with their WAGs “hiding” merchandise that’s got a good RR with it?? They often put those items behind other items on the shelf so that people can’t find them! I’ve even been told that my store didn’t carry things in the ad because it was a national ad and those products weren’t available in our area…just to go in the next week…when the register reward time was over…to find it sitting right there on the shelf! It gets kind of amusing…I’m still enjoying it…

It’s a bit silly on Walgreens part – the R.R. are manufacturer coupons, so they aren’t losing any money in these transactions – the companies are paying people to buy their stuff and Walgreens gets reimbursed for all those coupons, so they are actually making MORE money. I know I wouldn’t buy as much there as I do without those R.R.s. I even try stuff I wouldn’t usually try (which is why the companies are doing these promotions). Companies probably win out too on the people who forget to use the R.R. before it expires!

    Thank you, Charlene!

I will go today and “test the waters”. I have two Walgreens close by, so I’m going to give them both a try and see what happens……..
And Sharon, the homestyle mac and cheese wasn’t marked with the 3/$5 sign on the shelf-only the velveeta and shells- so my girls and I actually walked out of the store because I thought my area wasn’t doing that sale……… turns out they are…………so sneaky and really confusing to newbies!!!!!!

Went to Wags and did the Sinex deal today…had the manager look at me like “wow” after paying 6 and change ($1/ea + tax on my 4 Sinex and tax on my free Breathe Right strips) and getting a $10RR. He looked like he didn’t want to hand it to me. Totally forgot about the Mac-N-Cheese deal then, so I’m going back – but my paper got the $1/1, not the $2/1.

FYI with Walgreens. They need to scan the manufacturer coupon first, then scan the one in the January coupon book. If they scan the Walgreens coupon book one first it won’t take the manufacturere coupon.
