Just an update for those of you that shop at any of the Safeway Family of stores- if you can get your hands on the Joy of Football coupon books– there are $1 off Chex Mix coupons inside.
You can head over to Walgreens with your coupon books from 1/23-1/29 and do this:
Buy 3 bags at $3.99 total
Use the .99/3 coupon from the Walgreens coupon book
and Use (3) $1/1 coupons from Joy of Football book
Final Price: Free!
*Be sure to give your manufacturer coupons first.
If you can head into the store on Sunday 1/23 only, there is a bonus Register Reward printing:
Buy 3, Get $1.50
Buy 4, Get $2.50
Buy 5, Get $3.50
So depending on how many bags you buy, this turns into a moneymaker!
(NOTE: My store had hundreds of these booklets a few days ago. I only take 2 booklets per shopping trip so that everyone has a chance to get the booklets. When I went back yesterday the store was completely wiped out. So either there are lots of people using coupons or a few people that are clearing the stores of every book. Either way these might be harder to get your hands on!)

I got a different book there besides the ones you posted recently. It’s an oscar mayer book and where near the deli meat. If my camera worked I would post a picture. It had only 4 coupons on the front which expires on 1/31, but on the first page is a code for a free snapfish flipbook that doesn’t expire till 6/30. I grabbed one and then went back for another a few days after and they were completely wiped out.
Hey Charlene, is this deal for Safeway or Walgreens?
Becca it is for Walgreens. The key here is that you need a coupon book from Safeway to get the deal. So if I say “Attention Walgreens shoppers you can get free Chex Mix!” That is not fair to large numbers of readers that shop at Walgreens and do not have access to a Safeway store. So for Safeway shoppers, they can take the coupon books they find at Safeway over to a local Walgreens and get the deal. I hope that is clear.
Thanks for the heads-up!
I took two, and I was going to get one more on my next trip, but I’m thinking they will probably be out.
I guess some people might think two is too many, but I get really frustrated by posts on read where people are bragging about taking 20 or 30. I sort of hope Safeway starts keeping these at the cs counter.
Maegen I always think 2 is ample. Some stores limit to one per person but if a store has a large quantity I think 2 is reasonable myself. If they are almost entirely gone, I’d probably take one.
That coupon book has given me some great deals!
Rite Aid Dixie plates B1G1: I used the $1.50 off Dixie plates(from the Joy of Football book) along with the Video Values $3.00/2 (FREE!)
WAGS: Skippy Peanut $0.50 after q…..I’ll have to head back to Wags…Thanks Charlene!
Correction my comment above….the Joy of Football Q is $1.00 (not $1.50)…but still FREE plates.
I was at my local Dominick’s this morning, and had a terrible cashier. I took two of the books (there were displays of them at several places in the store) and while I was checking out, the cashier asked if I wanted to put my stuff (coupon books, my coupon wallet, shopping list) in a bag because I was carrying a lot. I said no, that was okay, and she then proceeded to grab the coupon books right out of my hand, and told me “You can only have one, DEAR.” I was so offended. Still debating about whether to tell corporate.
Oh that is incredibly rude Kelly! I suppose I can see if you had a fistful of them but I guess 2 doesn’t seem excessive to me. I am pretty conservative too.
@ Kelly…..I am shocked, who does she think she is! I would definitely call the manager, no one has the right to treat anyone that way.
Charlene,
Does it matter if we give the instant value coupon first? My store always insists that they scan the Wags coupon first.
Well this is exactly the price to make them free so I think it will be Ok. There is a chance those manufacturer coupons will beep though in which case I’d just say to heck with the Walgreens coupon. You will pay an extra .33 per bag but it is still a great deal with the cat.
I did this deal this morning and for whatever reason, the $1.00 coupons from the Safeway coupon booklet beeped. Fortunately, the cashier just pushed them through but wanted to give a heads up for those of you with unfriendly Walgreens.
Hey Kerri- did you happen to give the manufacturer coupons first?
Kerri, Charlene-
My transaction worked perfectly with no beeps at all. I gave 3 safeway coupons first then the IV coupon from the Walgreens booklet.
Yeah I think that is the trick. You know I just don’t shop at Wags enough to know what the heck the deal is but last week with the mac and cheese I had issues. I am almost certain it was the order of the coupons.
I’m pretty sure the manufacturer coupons were first but I always have problems with coupons at this particular store – that’s why I very rarely go into Walgreens.
For me, it worked fine as well (first manu coupons last Wags coupon). It worked on all flavors and keep your eyes out for the “bigger” bags. My Wags had the orginal and cheddar flavor in bags with “33% more for free” (those bags did not cause an issue).
