Just in case you are not a regular Rite Aid shopper, I wanted to let you know there is more free food this week. I did test this personally and it went perfectly for me.
There is a $1 +Up reward printing on select food products- including Lays Stax and Chex Mix.
Lays Stax are priced at $1- so it is free after +Up and no coupons are needed!
Chex Mix is priced at $1.50 with a $1 +Up printing for each bag. You can get two bags for free by doing this:
Buy 2 bags at $1.50
Watch the ad perk video for Chex Mix and get a $.50/1 Rite Aid coupon
Use the $.50/2 coupon from 1/30 SS or 1/2 GM
Pay $2 for both bags and you will get back a $1 +Up for each
To make the deal even better, when you spend $15 on select items you get a $5 +Up back. The Lays and Chex are both included!
There are several items included in this promotion so you can easily hit $15 before coupons. See the Rite Aid deals for the week for more ideas.
One note for those of you that might not shop at Rite Aid regularly- the stores tend to get pretty wiped out early in the week.
If you can’t make it to the store early in the week, you might call and ask when they restock. My store was nearly empty by 11am this morning. The cashier said they restock on Mondays and usually all that inventory is gone by Tuesday.
If you are wondering what the heck to do with all those +Ups, there are two items that are free after rebate this week. You can always use your +Ups to buy a rebate item and then submit it online at Riteaid.com. You will receive an actual check back in the mail from Rite Aid!

I have never had a problem using 2 adperk coupons. So for the chex couldnt you print out 2 adperk and use 2 coupons from the Joy of Football book? I went to 2 Rite Aids this morning when they first opened for the Stayfree and there was some crazy coupon ladies, running with carts and even one dragging their son screaming. Their carts were full of the Lay’s and Dreyers ice cream. And they don’t share they wiped the shelf clean.

Shelly, my understanding is that the ad perk are one per person so that is how I put the scenario together. I think that Rite Aid is turning into a bit of a free for all. I felt bad buying 6 Chex and 4 Lays and I wasn’t going to buy the Dreyer’s but I had to in order to hit $15. There was only a few Lays and a few Chex left. Otherwise the store was totally wiped out at 11am. Crazy.

Are the Chex Mix bags the right size to use the coupon in the Safeway Joy of Football coupon book? Then it would be a moneymaker, right? Isn’t that coupon a $1/1?
Charlene says
Yes Tiffany it is! I used 6 of them but I didn’t have time to do the ad perk coupon this morning. I checked and the size is correct for all the flavors. I could have used the $4/20 coupon too and really killed it but I just had to hurry up and get the heck out of the house this morning.

If I had read one post further I saw that you highlighted it. I am not a huge RA fan, but I think I might have finally found a store I can work with. I might give them another go for this deal. Thanks for the heads up! And I totally feel you on the ‘hurry up and get out of the house’ thing. I was the same way today when I went on my shopping run! Sometimes you just have to take into consideration that your time is worth something too! I appreciate how real you are about using coupons – I think you are the best example I have found online! 🙂
Charlene says
Right- I don’t like to make a stink about those books because only a minority of RA shoppers will have them. Plus I pick up 2 books per trip to Safeway so there is enough for others. So some people haven’t been able to get any at all 🙁 The one thing is that RA is EMPTY now. There was literally a wall of Stayfree that was completely empty so you might not find any inventory. I am not crazy about having a million +Ups that I have to worry about using up but I think I might use the $4/20 and the Neurogen this week and just cash them all in for a rebate check.

They need to go to my store on the corner of Madison and Dewey in Citrus Heights/Carmichael …. they had someone handing them out at the door today – one as you came in and one as you left (if you asked)! I already had 4 or 5 from 2 previous trips (I just take a couple per trip like you), but now I have two more! And I too get kinda panicky about having too many +Ups or RRs or ECBs hanging around. I hate to lose them or let them expire, but I don’t like to just waste them on full priced items either …..

Today day is not my day! I used the $4 off $20 beauty coupon but it did not scan so my cashier had to put it manually. I was so happy until I got back home checked my receipt found out that the coupon didn’t deduct but it added $4 toward my purchase. I have no Idea how she did it but coupon should bring your total down not up. I can’t do anything since I already left the store. I Still love Rite Aid 🙂

I got to my Rite Aid this morning at 10 am and they told me that they had sold out of the Lays chips and Colgate toothpaste by 8:15 am. 🙁 Some woman came in and dumped ALL of them into her cart when the doors opened up. I wished they had limited this one this week, but apparently not. It’s unfair for anyone else that wanted to buy them. My mom went to 3 other Rite Aids in our area and they too were already sold out of the Lays.
Charlene says
Shoot I am sorry Trisha. I honestly just don’t bother because I refuse to wait in line at 6am 🙂 But today I wanted to make sure it all worked or I wouldn’t have even gone. I am sorry- I hear both sides of the argument and I just don’t know what to say. I do believe that if that person purchased every can the store had- possibly 50 or more- well they have the 10 pounds not you 😉 On the other hand, I can say that my store had a whopping 2 Hartz dog biscuits so if someone wiped the entire store out at 8.15- well that is a little funny. I will say that we have seen this before and it did not end well. I try to encourage moderation on MFA and I don’t care who you are buying things for. Even those that say they buy 100 items or whatever for donation- well I still don’t agree with it. What about the families on extremely tight budgets that are doing all the work and get to a store 20 minutes after it opens and there is nothing left.
The last time this happened was with Target when you could print unlimited coupons in store. Many times the coupons did not have size restrictions. I remember single packs of coffee that were free and reading about a lady that bought 320 bags or something. She actually sat in the store and used their ink and paper to print all those coupons and had the clerks getting boxes and boxes from the back and then had a cashier tied up ringing all that mess up. She walked out not paying a penny. I swear to you they changed the coupons right after that. Now we get 2 if we are lucky. So anyway. I really think this frenzy at Rite Aid will end.

Thanks Charlene. 🙂 I agree…people like this are what cause the end to programs. 🙁 I know that Walgreens has been talking about moving to a point program like Rite Aid. BUT…by the time that they do this, Rite Aid might have ended their program due to people abusing it. Already the $4/20 coupons are no more…and to get the $2 or even $1 off coupons for any use you have to watch a bunch of videos. I don’t mind watching some for a good return, but watching 16 videos for $2…which will probably drop to $1 next month is getting out of hand. If Rite Aid just did some better restrictions, it would help. They restricted the Gillette razors, but not the chips or ice cream….weird!! Oh well, I might have been there at 8 am like everyone else this week, but I’ve been fighting off round two of the flu. You are right too….it’s better for that other person to get the 10 lbs gained than my husband. 😉

I love Rite Aid but it is a bit frustrating when the biggest sale items are sold out by noon on the first day of a sale. I wish they would just put a reasonable limit on all items with +ups. Then there may be some available for everyone. You think they would have learned after the TP and tissue incident last week and put a limit on the Lays. Oh well, good thing they have lots of good deals so I was still able to get some this afternoon! Love your blog Charlene!

What are your thoughts about asking for a rain check from Rite Aid for the free after +ups? I was thinking of that today…the 3 stores in my area were all cleaned out by 11 when I ventured out. I might go back tomorrow and see if I can get rain checks. Love your blog Charlene! Thanks for reminding everyone that moderation is a good thing!
stacey says
Charlene, are the +ups that are printing for the lays un-official? I’m asking because i wanted to know if we could get rain checks.
Charlene says
Stacey- I can’t find anything from Rite Aid directly that is featuring the +Up so that is an issue. It seems to be a hidden deal 🙁 I am so rusty on Rite Aid, but I think this +Up runs all month? If it does you just need the $1 price and then you can go back and the +Up is still printing… I am hearing that people are getting rain checks so that is my best guess.

i was able to buy 2 chex mix and use 2 $1 coupons from safeway booklet (safeway is in the same shopping center as rite aid at bollinger/miller in san jose, and they had tons of booklets left today) and 2 coupons from video values (1 from jan, 1 from feb). my rite aid has a low stock on most items so someone could easily wipe them out buying the total 5 in stock of any item. it’s not the best rite aid but is in walking distance from my house.
