The Deal of the Day on Amazon is a Scotch Thermal Laminator for $17.99 marked down from $31.99.
Shipping is free with Prime or Amazon Mom, otherwise you need to spend $25 for free shipping.
This is a great price for those of you crafty people- or maybe to make some fun art projects with the kids.
The price will last as long as they have inventory!
****Here is an additional part to this deal. I want to be clear that I am not certain this will work and you are taking a risk by trying this. There is a $20 mail in rebate available from Scotch when you buy the laminator and the 50ct thermal pouches.
So the way the math works is this:
Buy laminator at $17.99
Buy these 50 ct refills for $13.99 or use this link to find the refills (thanks Cali!)
Subtotal: $31.98
Submit for $20 mail in rebate when you buy the laminator and refills, final price is $11.98
Now this rebate form was available on Amazon last month and they have since removed the rebate. Someone saved this to a computer and the rebate period does not expire until 11/30.
So what do you guys think? This is one of those deals I am not totally comfortable with because the rebate is not available from a credible source. Also, if the company has pulled the rebate, is it fair to share the rebate form? I am on the fence here- so let me know what you think!
Thanks SD!
NOTE: If the refills you select show $9.95 shipping, look to the right and you should see “More Buying Choices” look for Amazon $13.99 with free shipping” and click on that.

There is a rebate deal that makes this an even better deal. Buy a 50 pack of laminator sleeves and the laminator and you get $20 back. That means the laminator and sleeves will cost you $12 bucks total after rebate. Go to http://www.swaggrabber.com to see details and the form. I just did it on Amazon. $31.98 OOP – $20 rebate = $11.98. Awesome!! I am going to give it to my son’s teacher for Christmas.
Yes Andrea I saw that posted on SD actually. I don’t like to just post anything- I want to be sure that the information is credible because $20 is a lot of money to waste on a rebate form that is no longer available from the original source. I am going to add the information in with a word of warning. I know I don’t like to take chances with my money and I don’t want to take chances with anyone else’s either.
PS: I hope that doesn’t sound snotty. I know I just had someone email about a rebate they didn’t get a few days ago and it was literally her grocery money for the week. So I really try to be sure everything I post on MFA is going to work out for everyone because I just feel sick hearing stories like that.
Thanks…I’ve always wanted a laminator. I just did the deal on Amazon without a problem. The only tricky thing is the first pouches I selected were not from Amazon so it didn’t trigger the free shipping (I don’t have the AmazonMom acct). I changed my selection and then got the free shipping. $30.98 out of pocket and hope to get the $20 rebate. : )
Ok- just don’t spend your grocery money Jen 😉 I swear I lose sleep over that stuff.
I agree Charlene and I don’t think it’s snotty. But for me, I was going to buy the refills anyway so it’s a no brainer. Especially for those without a Prime account it gets you over the $25 mark. I had a hard time finding the right refills so here’s the link:

Isn’t that the link I posted? I think they are the same ones but I will add it just in case.
There are 2 different sleeves on Amazon. The link posted in Cali’s post are from Amazon and eligible for free shipping. The link in the post is for some that are $12.77 (or something) + $9 shipping! Since they are shipped for an outside company they are not eligible for free shipping…
I really want a laminator to make writing cards for my girls…Even if the rebate doesn’t work, this is a good deal…
Thanks for posting this great deal Charlene! I work at a school for children with special needs & we make a TON of materials using these laminators but because of the cost we share them. For this price I can finally feel OK using some of my classroom budget to buy one just for me! Yay!!
I have this laminator and LOVE it, I would highly recommend it to anyone. I think it fills so many needs!
Hey Charlene, wouldn’t Scotch brand (the company) be able to tell us if the rebate is legit? Or if they are still accepting them? Just curious…
Thanks for bringing the rebate to my attention, along with your concern. After reading the fine print on the rebate form…”Quantities limted – offer good while supplies last.” and looking for the form on Scotch and Amazon website, I didn’t feel like the offer would still be valid and wasn’t willing to buy the extra item at this time. I have prime and get the free shipping so wasn’t willing to spend the extra $. If I wanted the free shipping maybe I would have?
I did this yesterday but realized that my order won’t arrive until mid to late October. I don’t think that will make the cutoff, but I wanted it anyway.
The rebate requires “original packing slip from Amazon.com.” I received a packing slip with the pouches, but not with the laminator. I emailed Amazon, to tell them I needed the packing slip, and this was the reply:
“At Amazon, we’re constantly looking for ways to further reduce our environmental impact. Currently, we’re testing a new initiative to reduce packaging waste by eliminating packing slips from our single-item customer deliveries.”
They suggested I print out the invoice, which I have done, but the rebate clearly says it wants packing slips!
Not sure what the “while supplies lasts” thing is about, but I’m pretty certain not having packing slips will be reason enough for them not to honor the rebates. Any thoughts?
Oh gosh Maire- what a headache. I am sorry. I just would send the rebate with a copy of the stupid Amazon email and see what happens. Or you can always return it if you prefer that route. Make sure you select that Amazon was at fault so you don’t pay shipping. I just didn’t feel comfortable with this rebate right from the start because you are basically out of luck if something goes wrong. There is no clear argument you will have with Scotch since the form was not directly on Amazon’s site. Personally I think you still got a great price but maybe just not as good as one would have liked with the rebate.
Hello Charlene, just wanted to let you know that I contacted ScotchBrand regarding the rebate. The rebate is still valid for the laminator. The online customer service dept gave me the phone number of the rebate department (1-866-397-3344 ). The rebate department confirmed it via a phone call.
Just wanted to let you know.
Yeah!! Thanks for doing that Jen- I just hope the other issue that someone mentioned with a packing list is not a problem.
There’s a thread on Amazon on the laminator page in which people say they’ve called Scotch about using printed out invoices for the rebate and were told (verbally on the phone) that they would be honored.

Today I followed up with Scotch regarding my rebate 1-866-397-3344. They did have my info in the system but “due to the overwhelming response” they will be calling me back to give a status on when I’ll receive my rebate. Just thought I’d share the info….
