Safeway: Boneless, Skinless Chicken $1.13/lb + Free Gardettos

Well I noticed a new $2 off Safeway e-coupon last night for chicken and we all know there is a $1/1 coupon for the Frozen boneless, skinless chicken bags in the Grilling coupon books.

This chicken was not featured in my ad this week- so I ran in to check the price at my store.  The bags were priced at $7.52 each for 4lbs- so providing the e-coupon works* and you have the grilling coupon book- you pay $4.52 for a bag of chicken or just $1.13/lb!

There is also a new e-coupon for .30 off a lb of Yellow Nectarines.  My ad features Red Lion nectarines at .77/lb this week so I would grab that coupon for sure.  You can actually choose to print it or save it to your club card.

I did double check the Gardettos and they are free if you are lucky enough to have doubles or .50 without doubles.

Buy 1 bag at $2.00
Use .50/1 Cellfire coupon
and Use .50/1 Shortcuts coupon
and Use $.50/1 printable coupon (should double to $1)
and get them for free- .50!

*I can’t promise your store will also have the chicken at this price- you can check online under your zip code or call your store before you head out.   Also, the Safeway e-coupons never seem to work for me.  I have not called yet to ask why they don’t work- but if you don’t want to chance it you might just print that $2 off coupon.  You can’t stack the coupons if you do decide to print it but you will pay $5.52 for a 4lb bag or $1.38/lb!

Has this been a great few weeks at Safeway or what?!

Thanks to Denise for pointing this out as well!

there was a $2 off coupon for glad for e-coupons @ safeway and then also a printable one so I used both and got some cheap soy candles, so I bought 2 got 2 free. much cheaper than the difusser I was running around trying to find but I found that scanning the coupons are tricky on the self-checkout…

I have been searching for Gardetto’s in the store and can’t locate them…I looked by the chex mix and nothing. Are they somewhere different?

Lisa I found them on the bottom shelf in the chip aisle near the Chex Mix.

I’ve been following your blog for a short time. I have a question. I don’t have a Safeway, I have Vons. I notice that you refer to loading e-coupons from the Safeway site? I have went to the Von’s site and am trying to load the coupons but there seems to be some sort of glitch because I get gobbly gook on the screen. If I go to the Safeway site, will this work for a Von’s club card (for me to load the coupons that is)? I’m thinking it won’t but I thought you may know something about that. Thanks for your help!

Stephanie- which coupons are giving you a hard time? The ones from Safeway.com that are e-coupons- like the chicken? Those can be printed as well as loaded. I would first try a new browser and see if that makes a difference. If it doesn’t I think you could try Safeway- I initially registered under Randall’s actually.

Thanks for the tip. Your fast too! I’ve posted comments on people’s blog’s sometime’s I get responses back (not in a timely manner) and other times I haven’t gotten any response back. Thank you! I have one more question. When I load coupon through cell fire, for example, does it only take that coupon off one item. For instance if I bought 2 Sargento shredded cheeses and load the .55 cents off Sargento cheese, does it just take it off one or both? Sorry I’m new to this and am actually inspired by how much you spend a week to feed your family so I want to give it a try. I have one more question too! How many do feed off what you spend in a week (basically what is your family size)? I was looking for something like your story on your blog but have been unable to find one. My family is just me and my 2 boys, who will eat me out of house and home if I let them (they are teenagers and football players). Thanks for your patience! 🙂

Hi Charlene! Thank you so much for all of the helpful tips! My family really appreciates it! Can you tell me- how do you know if/when Safeway is doing doubles? Is it different for every store? Are there any general rules to know?

    Thanks again!

    Hey All!
Just got back from Vons in SoCal this am. At my store they have the Fuse drinks on promo for 10/10. Right next to the drinks they had a tear pad for .75 off one drink. Well my store will double coupons up to 1.00, so the drinks are “free”.

Charlene, did you ever find out from Safeway why the $2 ecoupon for the chix didn’t work? I just came back from my local store and had the same problem. The guy at customer service didn’t know why it didn’t work, but just said there might have been a slight difference between the chix I bought and the product specified on the coupon. I don’t think that’s right since there is only one size of those particular variety of bags of chix. Anyhow he gave me a cash refund of $2 for the trouble. I’d be curious to know what went wrong in the first place.

Just came back from Safeway, and none of the Safeway ecoupons worked. I took my printout and the receipt up to customer service, and was told that they had been ordered not to reimburse for ecoupons that did not come off. I asked specifically about the Safeway ecoupons, and she said that they were aware that they weren’t coming off, and had been specifically told not to accept the printouts anymore for those coupons. Said she had been told to tell customers that the software guys were working on fixing the problem, but that there wasn’t any timeline given.

(You would have thought they would have tested to see if it worked before putting it on the website. Or remove it from the website once they found out it didn’t work!)

She did say that if we could print the coupons off the website with a barcode, they would take those, but would no longer reimburse from the “what’s on my card” printout.
