I tried this a couple of weeks ago when you first told us about the RR because the store I went to didn’t have 3 soaps (actually a cashier and even manager of the store didn’t have any RR signs up or even know about the deal). Anyway, the manager tried it with 3 facial items and it worked…he then tried it with the lip balm and it did NOT print the RR so I just went to another store. This was in Memphis, TN.
I did NOT in Knoxville, TN. I purchased 3 chapsticks and no RR printed out!

Ok Sandra I am concerned now that the RR isn’t printing everywhere with the lip balm. So are you saying it didn’t work at one store but it did work at the second one?
No 😛 I rarely empty displays if ever. I have too many local readers that might catch me 😉 Honestly I think the stores hide inventory on MM deals. This one in particular I am suspicious of.
Charlene, I just did this deal again for the SECOND time (since my teenage girls love this face soap)and it worked like a charm. The first time I bought 3 of the acne face bars & paid $9, received $10 in RR. Today I purchased another 3 bars (this time they were priced at $2.49) and used (3) $1/1 neutrogena facial cleansers 6/13 and I paid $4.47 and still received my $10. This is a very good deal, but I don’t see it as great of a deal on anything but the bars since their products are quite expensive.
Another bragging point, I took all my register RR’s and used them at safeway today with NO problems and my total grocery bill OOP was $3.66. ($54 before coupons) WOOT WOOT!!
I know my store hides inventory, maybe they read your blog?!
I posted over at Wild for Wags that this did not work for me. I tried this last week though. So, maybe it has changed since then? I’m located in Kansas.
Does NOT work in Southern CA. I purchased the 3 lip balms, wasted my coupons and NO RR. They did a refund for me but I was bummed. Just a heads up.

Thanks! I was bummed my store was out of most of the soaps, so this helped me do the deal again! My store is also in NorCal, but the lip balms with SPF were $3.49. RR printed, NO PROBLEM! And I am super thrilled!

YES! I was just at the Wild For Wags blog and she states it is ONLY the SPF 15 one, not the regular lip balm. So, maybe others that had an issue were trying the plain ones? I didn’t see the plain ones at my store. It usually has a limited inventory since I am in “smalltown” more than an hour north of you!
Hi Charlene, this morning I was up early doing errands and decided to check out Wags in Folsom (Sacramento Area) and they were wiped out of both kinds of face soap except for one bar of the acne soap (It was $2.39 w/the 25% discount) and saw the lip balms (just like your picture on the top shelf!) and thought I’d give it a try…I hadn’t been on the web yet today and didn’t see the post…so I was worried…but it worked! Now, I see everyone already figured it out. So I bought the 1 bar soap for $2.39 & 2 lip balms for $2.99 AND I used 3 of the $1.50 coupons from the Safeway booklet, with tax I spent $4.60 and received the $10 RR! I still haven’t tried to use any of the RR at Safeway…I am a little chicken of having a problem and causing a scene…I sure hate when I hold up the line!!! I will try soon though!

Just to let those who worried about using walgreen RRs at Safeway: yes they do take them, with no problems. They scanned like any other coupon. Used a bunch today that I had found in the bottom of my purse.
Well crud Bonnie I don’t know what to say then. Sometimes these deals are a hot mess and this is one of them. I am sure it is working at my store or they would have had inventory.

So, Safeway coupon books are manufacturer coupons that you can use elsewhere?
(forgive me, I don’t have a Safeway around here and am not knowledgeable about that store, but I may be able to ask for a booklet to be sent to me)
Erica- yes this specific coupon was from the May book which is no longer available. I kept meaning to get extras for a giveaway on MFA but once this deal came out people were cleaning the stores out of them.

I have made friends with the beauty cashier at my walgreens, and she told me that my location puts out 5 of the bar soaps out on wed. and that is it. If anyone asks they are to tell them that they are out. I did get 3 of the spf 15 lip balms though and they gave the 10 rr!
I dont know if you notice the numbers on the bottom of coupons, this is true most of the time, that if the first 5 numbers on the barcode of a coupon match the first 5 numbers on the barcode of the item, it will scan and accept the coupon for the item… that is a general statement about all coupons. now if the cashier will scan the coupon is another story..
I went into walgreens and handed the cashier the lip moisturizer and 3 $2 off facial moisturizer coupons, to see if they would take them, the cashier did not want to take them, and I said lips are on you face, so she checked with the manager, and he said for her to scan the coupon, and if it took it, that I could use all of them… they all went through and my I paid around $3 + tax, and got $10 RR!
the first numbers on that coupon match the first on the item, so that is one reason I tried that coupon first, the $1 off one’s 1st numbers do not match, and I wonder if they would have to push that one through manually…

There was a notice for a $10 rebate on Neutrogena Facial Moisturizers and Treatments (neutrogena.com/rebate) in my Sunday coupon insert. Will you be putting together a good scenario to combine that deal with this one? (Hint! 😉
i work at walgreens and i hear u guys all complain. but have u guys ever talked to your store manager or beauty advisor to place a special order. we have 3 regular coupon shoppers plus myself and we all place our orders. another thing there is two not one truck. you guys should ask when they is truck day and mini load.
after the last trip I was out again, and had more coupons so I stopped by another wags, and the lip moisturizers rang up on sale $2.16!!! so I paid $0.52 out of pocket and got the $10 Register Reward!!!

I just got 3 of the Lip Moisturizers at mine (last 3 in the store!) and they were not marked on sale on the shelf, and they were separate from the other Neutrogena stuff, but they did ring up 25% off – ($2.24, orig. 2.99) so I got a great deal! THANKS!!!

Apple I thought about that and I looked at the Neutrogena site- they were pretty specific about what a treatment is. I think it is worth it to send in the rebate and keep your fingers crossed 🙂 I am not sure they will accept them though.
I have been to every Walgreens in Sacramento area no one has the neutrogena bars. I have even had several stores order them, however they still haven’t came on any of the trucks. I even have a list going one when each one gets their trucks in. I have my coupons burning a hole in my coupon orginizer.. Any ideas?
