Here is the Walgreens for Beginners series for this week.ย  You can learn all about Walgreens right HERE and check out this week’s deals HERE.

Buy 1 Schick Hydro Shave Gel at $2.99
You will get a $2.99 Register Reward at checkout.
So you paid $2.99 but you now have $2.99 to spend on whatever items you like

This week I plan to go to Walgreens to get the Shave Gel and here is how I will be rolling the Reward:

Buy 2 TreSemme Fresh Start at $3 each
Buy 1 Snuggle at $3.99

Subtotal: $9.99
Use (2) $2/1 TreSemme coupon
Use $3/1 Snuggle coupon from 3/28 RP
Use $2.99 RR
Final Price: Free*

*Important Note: Since I have 3 items above and 3 coupons in order to use the Register Reward as well, I need to get a filler item. I typically look around for something .25 or less on clearance. If nothing else, there is Arizona Iced Tea for .59 with in ad coupon.

So the final price I will pay is $2.99 for the shave gel, 1 large box of Snuggle and 2 TreSemme plus tax!

You can also watch the vlog HERE on how I plan my Walgreens trips for more information!

Do the Walgreens coupons not count towards the coupon/item count in your Arizonia iced tea filler example? If it does count and you bought 3 iced teas would it count 3 times? I’ve always wondered about this. Hopefully I’m making sense here.

Yeah that makes sense and I think I am going to test this again. Now in the past (and the common thought at Wags) is that their store coupons do not count. I have personally experienced both ways. I was planning to test this just to see once again but to me it isn’t a big deal because my store has little toffees right at the register for .33. I grab one of those if I have any beeps.

Most people will tell you that the Walgreens store coupons do not count.

Good to know, thanks. I have been counting them once regardless of how many of the same item I get. Now I’ll give it a try and cut back on fillers. Not like I needed those extra candies anyhow ๐Ÿ™‚

Actually, from my experience the number of coupons dont count as long as your total is above the coupon amount. The first time I tried to do a register reward it beeped and the cashier told me I needed an extra item b/c of the coupon amount, but every time since, I just needed my pre-tax total to be more or equal to the coupon $ total. Ive used more coupons than the number of items almost every time Ive done RR’s. Hope that makes sense…

I usually grab the generic brand jello pudding for a filler. It is usually about $.30

I tried to do this deal tonight with the tresemme. These are on sale 3/10 but if you do not buy three you do not get the sale price. How rediculous is that??!!!

You know I bought one and it was $3.34. I bought one on Sunday. What was the price for you to just buy 1 because that doesn’t sound right to me ๐Ÿ™

Ruthie- I have been thinking about this and I think it is a better deal at Target anyway. I paid $1.34 after coupon for 1 at Walgreens. My Target has a display of 2 pks of these Fresh Start things for $3.99- they are two different full size products. Now if you buy those it is $1.99 for 2 products. Or get one and just do a price match :P.
