For those that are new to Kmart doubles I have a few tips that have worked for me in the past. For those that are old pros at doubles please feel free to share your experiences as well!
1. Every person will have a different experience. I find it best to just assume you need to follow the rules outlined for the event by Kmart. You might be pleasantly surprised that your store does not enforce the rules but better to be prepared than disappointed.
2. The limit is 5 coupons per day per person. What that should mean is that if you go with your husband, you can each do a transaction with up to 5 coupons total that will be doubled. Kmart has indicated a Shop Your Way Rewards card is required for each person that wants to double. You can enroll HERE and get a temporary card or take your chances that your store has these available at the registers.
3. Coupons with a value of $2 or less will be doubled. So that means the face value of the coupon will be doubled up to a grand total of $4 so- a $2 coupon becomes $4 or up to the price of the item. For example, if an item is priced at $3.50 and you have a $2 off coupon, you will receive a grand total of $3.50 off to make the item free. You will not receive any overage.
4. Kmart does accept internet coupons.
5. You will want to be sure your store is included in the promotion! The list of stores is available HERE– if your store is not listed it never hurts to call and ask! You might get lucky!
6. Considering there are only 5 coupons total per day, I would recommend prioritizing the items you want the most if you plan to make multiple trips. Kmart stores do tend to run out of inventory very quickly during these events.
7. Carefully check your receipt before you leave! Coupons for multiple items (for example $1/2 coupons) are notorious for not doubling properly. If that is the case, you can head right up to customer service and get a refund. It is much easier to get a refund immediately than to try and come back to get one.
8. Buy One Get One coupons have doubled in the past! There is a very good chance they will double- but I have personally had experiences when they did not double. So if you decide to try it- be sure the coupon value is $2 or less!
9. You can use as many coupons as you like in your transaction but only 5 total will be doubled.
Good luck and be sure to come back and let us know how it goes for you!

My tip to avoid hassles at the register. USE THE PRICE CHECKER! I get all my items and head to the price scanner before the checkout to avoid surprises. I have had items that did not scan as marked in the past and gotten home before I realized it. Also, kids love to do this so I use it as a bribe to keep them calm(er) in the store 😉

I’m a little confused. On this post you say that K-Mart does not accept internet coupons… but on your last post with all the K-Mart Doubles match-ups many of your match-ups have links to internet coupons??
Which way does it work? No internet coupons, or yes to internet coupons?
Irene says
I’ve read somewhere that you can only use one of each coupon for doubling as well! They sure are being strict this time!
JANELLE says
I was told by a friend who works there that they have new software that will make the register enforce the 5 coupon rule. The clerk will not have any control over this. But yea never know!! Thought I would pass that along!
Erica says
I read online that you can only use 1 identical coupon per transaction. Have you heard this? That would seem to make things very difficult.
Tina says
NO INTERNET COUPONS!!!????? Thats a bummer.
Charlene says
Natalie can you please tell me where it says that? You are the third that asked and I can’t find where I posted that anywhere. I did post this on the tips:
4. Kmart does accept internet coupons.
So I don’t understand where the confusion is?
Charlene says
Erica- here is the latest thing from Kmart and it does not say that. I haven’t heard that so I can’t be sure. I guess I should add another tip- have a Plan B and a Plan C 🙂

Kathleen says
Can I use a $3 coupon and it “double” to the max of $4 or does the coupon have to be $2 of less? Thanks so much!
Tina says
I went to kmart today to take a peek, and I found some of the Snuggle 50 loads fabric softner on sale 2/5.oo So Free ! And I picked up a Johnsons Buddies bar soap for $.99 , so free as well , This trip motivated me for sunday ,I’m ready!!OH and I almost forgot I used my shop card and won a free chapstick , Great shopping day.
Charlene says
Kathleen the maximum value of the coupon is $2. If you use a $3 coupon than you will get $3 off only- it will not double.

My tip is Use the Price Scanner. I hate when I get home and realize that something scanned for higher then it was marked, or higher then I anticipated. I scan my items before getting to checkout so I’m aware when something is scanning wrong. Also, my kids love the scanner so I use it as a bribe. ALSO, my Kmart has TV Karts which I love, Kmart doubles tends to take longer then regular shopping and they keep the kids entertained.
Erica says
I believe that I read that on Common Sense with Money today. It was in an email from KMart. I sure hope that it’s not correct. I will definitely have a couple of back up plans. I’ve never one the doubles before and since I am moving south, it might be my only chance for a while 🙂
Elizabeth says
I got the K-Mart ad today, and it didn’t say anything about double coupons for the week of 4/4, even though the link to participating stores said that my town is part of it. Also, the items that you posted as on sale don’t seem to be in this ad…
Confused here in Minnesota!
Charlene says
Elizabeth, I do not get access to the weekly ad until Sunday. To determine prices I actually go to Kmart and walk down every aisle and check. Then I make sure the prices listed are either regular prices or they last through 4/10. I also use the deals from the month long ad which ends 4/10. If I solely used deals from the weekly ad #1 I would not have any sort of list available until late Sunday at the earliest and #2 it would also be a pretty small list.
I am not surprised it is not mentioned- you can go to Kmart.com and either call customer service or email them if you have any further questions about your specific store. This event is subject to cancellation but the list of participating stores was sent by Kmart directly several weeks ago and then via email yesterday.

One more tip, Kmart is definitely the kind of place to hand your coupons one at a time. Many times the register will come up with a list of choices to attach the coupon to. Sometimes the cashier will not notice and continue to ring the coupons through, hence missing some of your coupons. When you hand them one at a time, you give the opportunity to help them out a little, maybe pointing out which item the coupon is for. (The cashiers often don’t even look at the coupon to figure out what it is, just try to guess)
Charlene says
Sheila great point! The easiest thing is to actually give the coupon as they ring the item because you are right that cash register is a massive pain.
Melanie says
Well we went to Kmart this morning in the Cincinnati Ohio area and they are doubling coupons and they are inforcing the limit of 5 to each rewards card per day… We did okay this morning but this will be a daily trip to Kmart to get all the item’s we want to double the coupons. It’s just not the same as before with the limits.
Breann says
My k-marts of course know nothing of the event even though they were on the list of participating stores. K-mart is extremely disorganized.
Jessie says
Hi I just came from the K-mart in Farmington Hill MI and they are not taking internet coupons! I called guest services and basically was told that a indivdual store can decided to not take any internet coupons. Just thought I would give a heads up…
Charlene says
Jessie I am sorry to hear that. Sadly there are areas all around the country where people are doing some pretty awful things with coupons and as a result stores won’t accept them anymore. Some lady was just arrested in Oregon for cashing $200 in coupons that she made online and figured out how to pass off as legitimate.
Amelia says
I just got back from Kmart and was able to get a number of items (Bic razors, Reach dental floss, and Dove deodorant) free or pretty cheap. I have to say Kmart is very disorganized and dosen’t train their people very well. The woman at the register had no idea how to ring up my double coupons and someone else had to come over, zero out her charges, and start over. In the meantime, they misplaced one of my coupons! It was aggravating. I see what you mean now about keeping your expetations low and appreciating whatever you can get!
Stephanie says
I’m new to doing this at Kmart and I have a question. Does Kmart still double the coupon if it says Do Not Double on it? I found a great coupon for Chef Boyardee and the deal for them was mentioned on one of the blogs I frequent but I’m wondering if I’ll get a hassle over the coupon because it says Do Not Double. Thanks in advance for the help!
Stephanie says
I’m new to the Kmart double coupons deal. Will they still double the coupon if it says Do Not Double on it? Thanks!
Charlene says
Yes Stephanie it will double.
Christie says
I just went to Kmart and was disappointed. I should have taken your advice and called ahead. They had plenty of the things I wanted and went to check out and was informed they don’t take internet coupons unless it is a Kmart internet coupon. 4 of my 5 coupons were internet coupons. I ended up only getting a pack of Pedigree Dentasticks that I had a $2 coupon for. They were $.40 with tax! At least I got 1 great deal!
Charlene says
Bah! No Ips is silly and frustrating but I am sure there is a reason they won’t take them. Probably had an issue with fraud at some point in that store- such a shame.
alecia says
Hi here in oak lawn and our sense and sprays are 9.79 at 3 stores I went too Can anyone confirm that they are 3.50 anywhere its not in the ad and priced at the scanner but see it was listed here on the site. Just trying to confirm if anyone in illinois has seen this price anywhere? Thanks for your help
Charlene says
Alecia it was in the ad actually. I wasn’t sure because it was listed under some Glade refills but it doesn’t say Sense and Spray refill it says:
“Sense & Spray or Oust 12 oz. SALE 2 for $7”
You can see it on the monthly ad in the very fine print at the bottom of page 14 I believe it is:

Has anyone else run into this….? I went to my Kmart store who is participating in the double event, but they told me that it takes a month for my card to be activated so I would not be able to take advantage of the event. (Just glad I asked before I filled up my cart.)
Charlene says
Umm. That is absurd Melinda. Really. I would call Kmart Customer Service and let them know about that. You can fill out the card info online and have a temporary card in 10 seconds.
Melinda says
I have been trying to register online (using the link in the blog) for several days but it looks like they are having problems w/ the page. So I guess I will have to call customer service and see what they can do for me.
nora says
I’m in Utah and they have excepted all my internet coupons. I do have a question though I received a five dollar catalina for the dove and when I went in today to use it, my total was 7.50 and they wouldn’t accept it because they said it was a type of coupon and I had already used a coupon with each item bought. I don’t shop K-Mart is it like wags where you have a coupon tiem ratio? I have to admit I was suprised with our K-Mart they took everything and were very friendly.
Charlene says
Nora I honestly don’t have any idea. I thought Wags was the only store with that quirk but I guess you could have grabbed a chocolate bar or gum at the register to see if that made a difference.
