Charlene, maybe I’m figuring this wrong, but couldn’t you use 2 Target coupons to make it $1.99 for 2?

Has anyone tried this and worked? I’m new to couponing and it says on the fine print coupons cannot be combined.

BTW, don’t forget the SC Johnson rebate here: http://www.scjohnson.com/Files/afc-rebate-form.pdf?utm_source=direct&utm_medium=offline&utm_campaign=2009-10-value-tag-DIRECT

Umm.. You aren’t figuring it wrong but I don’t feel comfortable suggesting a Target coupon on a free item. It might work but I think a lot of cashiers would refuse that second coupon.

I understand… the Walgreen’s figures included 2 store Q’s so I figured the same would go for Target. Thanks! We’ll get great use out of these!

I just did this at Walgreens to purchase 4 and it worked like a charm! I was so happy to see this today since just last week I noticed them in stores but I wanted to wait and see if there would be a coupon, VOILA!

Once again this isn’t a fair deal. The buy 1 get 1 free coupon encompasses both items. To then go and use the $2 off on 1 is over-couponing. You would need to buy 3 items to use both the buy 1 get 1 AND the $2 off. There is no store that would, or should accept both of those coupons.

Sorry but I intend to call out everytime I see a blogger do this. More and more stores are getting ultra coupon picky, some more than others, but I don’t think it’s fair to the stores to openly cheat and thats what this is.

Buy 1 get 1 free coupons cover 2 items. To use another dollar value coupon on top of that is over-couponing and against the rules.

That being said I do love your blog.

Ling, I did this transaction at Target this afternoon just as Charlene specified – and it worked great.

This worked for me, no problems. The clip ons were 8.99 each and the coupons took off $8.99, $2.00, and $4 for the wags coupon. Cashier didn’t bat an eye!! Great deal!

Molly as usual I do not agree with you and I do not think it is fair to call this “cheating”. Two items + 2 coupons is perfectly reasonable and perfectly valid.

I would encourage you to read Rite Aid’s coupon policy which specifically allows for this and I am sure if other stores had thorough coupon policies like Rite Aid does, they would also have this in writing.

To Molly . . . if it were “cheating” then the stores’ computer systems would “beep” and not allow for the “dollar off” coupon after a “BOGO” coupon. (Most of the stores’ computers will tell you why it’s refusing to take the coupon.) The exception for this would be trying to use a BOGO coupon and an additional coupon for a dollar amount off 2 items (instead of one item).

All the stores where I live are very coupon friendly. At my local walgreens the girls at the cosmetic counter keep a box of coupons and give them out to customers all the time. They also tape coupons to items in the aisles and encourage their use. When I did this deal the cashier was happy for my savings. I don’t think that this is “over-couponing” at all. That being said, Molly, if you don’t feel comfortable using this deal, then don’t do it. There are more and more people on the blogs acting as the “coupon police!” It’s getting silly! ๐Ÿ˜‰
Charlene you rock! Yours is the best blog of them all!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

I tried this deal tonight at Walgreens and the machine did beep when the cashier tried to use the $2 off manufacture coupon. I handed over the bogo coupon first and then the $2 coupon and the machine beeped. Could this be because of the way the cashier took off the 2nd item? The May coupon booklet coupon worked fine. If it’s not beeping on other people I can only figure it was the way it was punched into the register for the bogo coupon. The manager said it was because I’m trying to use 3 manufacture coupons for 2 products. He claimed the may booklet coupon is a manufacture coupon. I had to go ahead and do the deal without getting the $2 taken off because they had already wrote on the bogo coupon rendering it void. FRUSTRATING

Oh, and I did throw in a couple of candy bars just to be safe for the # of coupons per item thing and the register still beeped. That’s when the manager got called and he gave me the song and dance about the IVC being a manufacture coupon.

i just tried this and they took everything except the 2-$2 printables because the number of coupons exceeded the number of items. This is very discouraging. I trusted your deal only to find out that you most likely didn’t try it yourself first. I assume that this is a Walgreen’s policy because it was the computer that wouldn’t take the printables not the saleslady.

Michelle I post deals based upon my experience with Walgreens. There is no possible way that I can do every single deal. I can’t even fathom how that would be possible for anyone to do.

I did not suggest using (2) $2 off coupons. I said use one BOGO coupon and one $2 off coupon plus the coupon book coupon. That should have worked fine and I have already heard from others that is worked fine. If they said you needed more fillers you could have grabbed the .33 toffee candy at the cash register and that would have been your filler to use the coupons. I am thinking the problem might have been that you tried to use 3 manufacturer coupons on 2 items which I would never advise doing.

Michelle, I am sure you aren’t intending to be rude but your comment came across as very rude to me. It is ridiculous to think that Charlene drives to each store and tests all these deals herself. I did this twice this week and it worked perfectly for me. I don’t know why it didn’t work for you- maybe that extra coupon you had was the problem but there is no reason to take it out on Charlene if something goes wrong at your store. Is she supposed to drive to every store across the country to be sure it will work for every single person too? I have found that she walks you through the deals pretty clearly and at some point you need to take responsibility to learn how your store works and how coupons work in general.

I did this deal and it worked just fine for me. I bought 4 Off clip-ons plus a easter egg candy (so that I could use my register rewards). I gave my coupons to the cashier in this order, BOGO, $2 off man. coupon, Walgreens coupon (from the May coupon book )and my $5 RR from the trimmer I had previously purchased. I had no problems. If you are using your register rewards to pay for your items always to remember to count the number of items in your basket and the number of manufacturer coupons and RR you are using. If the total amount of man. coupons plus RR exceeds the number of items in your basket then you need to grab filler items. I always give my cashiers my man. coupons FIRST then the Walgreens store coupons and then my RR.

Well I went to a different Walgreens and this time they took the BOGO, $2 coupon and the IVC but instead of taking $8.99 off they took $6.99 off for the second item because that is what I’m technically paying after the IVC and since the IVC is a Walgreens promotion they don’t get reimbursed for it. Huh? At both stores I was told they are supposed to scan Walgreens coupons first, then manufacture coupons and then Register Rewards if I’m using them. I think this is going to be something that all stores are going to be required to do. The manager said something about a memo that was sent from corp. to scan coupons in this order. They certainly act at every store I’ve tried to coupon at like I’m some kind of theif or maybe a cheapskate. I try to be nice and organized but it doesn’t seem to matter to them. Their attitude stinks!

Crystal I totally agree with you about Walgreens. Their system can be a total pain. I believe that more stores should be like Rite Aid and put out a written policy that all of us can follow. If it is in writing then there is no questions as to the policy.

Charlene, I have to commend you on your blog. You do an awesome job and I truly appreciate that you take the time to keep up on our local deals here in the valley. Keep up the great work and don’t let others get you down.

I tried to do this deal today at Target, and it was a challenge. The manager had to be called to enter some code and he read the coupons very carefully. I was lucky that he let me use the BOGO & $off for these items because he did not let me use the BOGO & $off for the tresseme products I bought in the same transaction. In my experience thus far, it really depends on the cashier. I have been going to a Target that’s a little farther from where I live knowing they are friendlier and not as picky.

I just wanted to highlight the SC Johnson rebate on this again. If you can get three of these for under $5, you’ll be making money!
