Ok this is a really good week at Walgreens. Here are a few ideas for new couponers to get started with Walgreens deals. The Register Reward program at Walgreens can be a little tricky so be sure to read HERE and HERE before you head out!
There are a few good deals that do not require Register Rewards this week. You can purchase these in one transaction:
Welch’s Grape Jelly $1.50
Use .55/1 from 1/3 SS
Final Price: .95
Blistex 2/$2 with in ad coupon (you only need one coupon that is found in the weekly ad by the front door of the store.)
Also use $1/2 from 12/13 SS
Final Price: .50 each
Imperial Sugar $1.99 with in ad coupon
Use .50/1 HERE
Final Price: $1.49
If you would like to try Register Rewards, the Fusion razors are a great deal:
Buy 1 Gillette Fusion razor at $8.99
Use the $4/1 coupon from the 2/7 Proctor and Gamble insert
Pay $4.99 + tax and get a $4 Register Reward back.
So your net price is .99 for the razor and you will have a $4 Register Reward for next time!
Be sure to ask any questions you have below and if you decide to give Walgreens a shot this week come back and let me know how it goes!

Question! I went to Walgreens this week to buy an item that was buy one get one free. I also had a coupon for this item that was buy one get one free. My intention was to get both items for free, but the cashier wouldn’t let me unless I went back and got 2 more items saying that I couldn’t use the coupon b/c it would be like I wasn’t paying for either one. ????? I didn’t argue with her and I put my coupon up not wanting to have 4 of the item and having to pay for 2, but now I am confused.

It is totally valid to do that. In fact the Rite Aid coupon policy specifically allows for it in writing. It all just depends on the cashier. Many of them will refuse those coupons and there isn’t a lot you can do except ask for a manager. In my experience the Wags managers aren’t super coupon friendly so just try again with a different cashier is all you can do.

If I buy Huggies and get a RR, should I be able to use the RR on another brand (say, Kotex) and still get the RR advertised for that? I understand you can’t use the same product or the same brand, but today when I went, thinking I was doing something awesome, me using my Huggies RR prevented the Kotex RR from printing. (And, I even had an awesome deal set up. *sigh*) The manager (actually a friend, I worked there 3yrs ago with her) said Walgreens was “getting smart” to people doing that. But they get compensated for every single RR & Q we use, why would they mind people saving money?!?
Anyway, do you know anything about this, or did I just do it wrong since both brands are owned by Kimberly-Clark? If you have an idea I’d appreciate hearing it 🙂
Charlene says
They are both KC and that is why. I don’t understand the mentality that you are doing something wrong by using coupons and RR. The RR are manufacturer coupons so I guess maybe they feel you are using 2 coupons for the same item? I don’t know.
Sometimes it seems to work with the same company and sometimes it doesn’t. I think you just got unlucky. As a rule of thumb I never roll with the same company just to be safe. You should call catalina marketing and see if they can mail it to you.

Jenna: I had the same problem last week, this was the first time I had encountered that problem. Fortunately, the manager was willing to work with me and Forced the RR to print.

thank you so much!

Several Catalinas didn’t print for me last week either – my manager said it was the same reason – using RR to buy another product with an RR. He worked with me too so I was able to get the RRs. I’m really disappointed with Wags. It’s hard enough to use the RRs.
On that point, I’m so happy to see this series! Thank you.

I totally understand your frustration with Wags. It seems every other time I shop there, things don’t ring up at the sale price or the Catalinas don’t print, they don’t take the coupons, etc. Love the deals, hate the shopping experience!

Thanks so much for the beginner series Charlene. FYI: The Imperial Sugar Coupon link is expired.
