My plan:

In case you haven’t noticed I rarely shop at Walgreens. I do intend to go this weekend and here is my plan:
.
Buy True North Nuts $3
Use $1 coupon
Pay $2 and get $3 back
.
T2:
Buy (2) Keebler cookies at $1.99
Buy 1 milk $2.49
Buy Wonderbread at $1.50
Use (2) $1 Keebler coupons
Use $2 off milk from HERE
Use .55 Wonderbread coupon
Use $3 Register Reward and pay $.42
***Remember you need to have an equal # of items to coupons- so this scenario assumes I find some sort of cheap filler item.
.
If it works out (i.e. they have inventory) I will pay a total of $2.42 oop and get $3 back in a rebate from True North.

    If they don't have stock, ask someone to check in the back. I rarely shop at Walgreens, for this and many other reasons, but I decided to do the Glade deal. They didn't have any of the candles on the shelf, but when I asked about it, they brought an entire display out from the back. They had 8-10 candles in each scent. Definitely worth the trouble of finding someone to ask about them.

    I'm new to the Walgreens couponing. Can you collect more than one register rewards on one transaction?

    You can get more than one register reward per transaction on different items. If you try to buy more than one of the items listed as receiving register rewards, you won't get the second one. WAGS coupons & RR are a little tricky.

    Thanks Jennifer, Pudgy Jennifer is exactly right and it can be tricky. I am hoping to update my Walgreens Register Reward post this weekend which will provide more information. The goal is to have the lowest amount out of pocket possible so sometimes it can be better to do several transactions so you can "roll" your rewards. Sounds more complicated than it really is- check out the Drugstore 101 at the very top of my blog to read a little more about Wags.

    Just wanted to alert you to a deal that I found on another blog and did tonight (Sunday) in the Sacramento area. The Triaminic deal is printing out two $5 Register Rewards when you purchase two Nighttime Cold & Cough. Here are the details: http://www.commonsensewithmoney.com/2009/09/walgreens-triaminic-night-time-cold-cough-moneymaker/

    I hope this works for you!

    Charlene, Thank you for the heads up on the Walgreens deal for the milk. I am so broke this week and wasnt sure how I was going to get milk and bread. I did the deal just like you laid it out and we have milk,bread and even cookies.Whoo Hoo…

    Oh good kelly! Did you use a filler- I forgot to mention that to use the $3 RR you'd need a filler. Also the cookies are 1.99 at Target this week too so if you can find more $1 coupons you can do it again there. Pay $1.98 + .19 or so extra for the milk and get 2 Keebler + milk.

    Ok I am new at this, I went to walgreen and T1 I bought the wonder bread used coupon, soft soap body wash used my coupons, got $4 RR for that. Now T2 I bought the true north nuts, and softsoap ensambles used my coupons for that and came to $6.47, handed them the $4 RR and he tried to ring it up it beeped, the mangager came to me and said I couldn't use it because I used manf. coupons in the transactions. Is that right? I see that you all used coupons too and then used your RR. Did I miss something?

  9. Charlene says

    09/14/2009 at 11:44 AM

    Not it is not true and if I had $1 for everytime Walgreens says that I could retire. The reason it beeped is because you need to have a filler. If you used the True North coupon, the Softsoap coupon and only had 2 items total you can only use 2 coupons. RR are considered a manufacturer coupon and the Wags registers won't allow more than 1 coupon per item. It is a glitch that is very tricky. So you need to find the cheapest item possible in the store- like a .10 clearance item or .30 candy or something and then you are buying 3 items and using 3 coupons. Read the Wags post at the top of the blog under Drugstore 101 if that is still confusing. I am hoping to update that in the next few days. I should have noted that for new Walgreens people in the post.

    Oh ok thanks Charlene. I really appreciate it for explaining it to me.

    Just for fun, my favorite filler is a "homemade" piece of caramel candy that is at the registers, 33 cents. And since I only need 1 filler, I don't overindulge 🙂

    I've had a lot of trouble with a local Walgreens (and CVS) with small supplies of sale items. I looked up the state law here, which most states also have, about deceptive business practices and fraud laws. In TX: "(8)  advertising property or service with intent:
    (A)  not to sell it as advertised, or
    (B)  not to supply reasonably expectable public demand, unless the advertising adequately discloses a time or quantity limit;
    (9)  representing the price of property or service falsely or in a way tending to mislead;
    (10)  making a materially false or misleading statement of fact concerning the reason for, existence of, or amount of a price or price reduction;

    I've had to explain to store managers that they must make a good faith effort to supply sales products based on demographics and household information and post all the policies rather than making us guess. But their stated policies don't trump state laws.
