No Bake Ghost Cookies for Halloween

No Bake Ghost Cookies- perfect Halloween treat!

Here is something super fast you can whip up for the little ones or any Halloween parties you might have this week.

These are so fun and my kids loved them!

The best part is that you can make as few or as many as you need.

To make these cookies couldn’t be easier.  You need:

  • Almond Bark or Wilton Candies (in white)
  • Wilton Eyeball Candies, Mini M&Ms, Mini Chocolate Chips or melted chocolate (for the eyes)
  • Nutter Butter Cookies or Milano Cookies

Basically you just want to melt the chocolate and coat the Nutter Butter cookies with the white chocolate.  I prefer to use Almond Bark or Wilton candies for this as regular white chocolate can seize up and make a real mess.  Almond Bark or Wilton candy will melt much easier and it will provide a smoother coating for your ghosts.

I just placed a few squares of almond bark in a bowl and popped in the microwave in 30 second intervals.  After each interval take it out and stir well until you get a nice melted, creamy texture.

Take your Nutter Butter cookies and place them in the bowl and coat both sides with the white chocolate.  Remove and use a butter knife or spatula to tap off the excess chocolate.

Place on a piece of parchment paper to dry.

Before the chocolate is dried you want to pop the eyes on.  The easiest thing is to use Wilton Candy eyeballs, mini M&Ms or mini chocolate chips.  If you don’t have any of those things you can always melt a tiny bit of chocolate and place it in a Ziploc bag.  Cut just the very tip of the Ziploc and squeeze the chocolate to make tiny eyeballs for your ghosts.

And that is it!  I made about 12 of these and it just took a few minutes to do.    I was actually rushing last night to make these to take on a Pumpkin Train tour we did this afternoon.  The kids loved these things and gobbled up their lunches to get these at the end as a treat.  (Mommy may or may not have eaten several as well.)

***If your child is nut free or you have a nut free classroom, you can always use Pepperidge Farms Milano cookies instead.

We use my daughter’s Easy Bake Oven. It has 2 pink trays that are excellent for melting chocolate. At 7 she can make chocolate covered pretzels and these ghosts (and then the reindeer at Christmas) all by herself. She loves saying, “Look momma, I did this by myself! Don’t eat it until I take a picture of it.”

It’s not quick, but it is safe and easy!
