Charlene,
I found a $2 off Viva (six pack or larger) in my All You of September p. 95 or close to that.
So it will make them at $2.99, pretty good price.

I live in california and I tried to go by the “shopping for free at walmart” list, I tried to use the coupons that the list said to use to get that certain deal, and I guess the coupon didnt exactly match the item, so they didnt except it and besides that they treated my partner and i very rudely both days we went. One of the deals that I tried to do was the save $2.00 on freshpet select roasted meals for cats & dogs(any size any variety). The list told me to use this coupon to get a $1.64 small tub of the product. the cashiers (because there was like 3 of them looking at the coupon!!!)-so the cashiers said 3 different things. 2 said yes and one said no. It ended up being no. I just want to know whats up with this. My partner and I are rookies. we’ve been couponing for about 7 weeks now. I mean is the list correct? Im a bit skeptical. or is it because we live in california and couponing might be a bit harder. I would really appreciate any answers or advice that you might be able to give us.

Lily, you’ll have to be more specific about what the problem was. Why did they say you couldn’t use it? Yes you need to be responsible yourself to double check that you are buying the right items. You need to be buying the exact items the coupon language says and if you are not buying the product the coupon says than you can’t use that coupon. If you are buying the correct items then you need to ask to speak to a manager because you should be entitled to use your coupons.
I don’t see what living in California has to do with anything. I live in California.

Lily,
Don’t be discouraged about using coupons. I’m new to coupons too. I’ve been doing it since July. Charlene’s right if you you know your buying the correct items ask to speak to a manager. Just remember that even managers get it wrong, so if you don’t think they are right, even after they explain it to you, try the deal at another Walmart, if you can.
Also, Charlene gives out good advice, I look at her sight and a couple others. Remember prices and coupons differ by region. Also, if deal match ups she puts up don’t make sense, ask about them in the comments section of the deal.
I think we all have trouble with using coupons at the stores periodically. I went to to target recently to do the deal on Casade dish soap, 3pk, trial size and it was $0.97. I wanted to use a $1.00 off coupon, but the manager said it didn’t apply to the product because it was a trial size, even though the coupon said nothing about excluding the trial sizes (she pointed to the picture on the coupon which was a bigger size). She also said the coupon said limit one per purchase (I was trying to buy 4), even though the coupon said limit four per customer (she obviously did not read the coupon that far and just didn’t want to give me the deal. I WAS PISSED). I then went to another Target and it went fine. Some employees are just not as educated as others about coupons. Don’t give up! I personally do not like Walmart. I also find that at my local Target’s in Sacramento, California, they really scrutinize my coupons and don’t know their coupon policy’s well, but I LOVE CVS and RITE-AID!
For me, getting free toothpaste, free toothbrushes, full size shampoo & conditioner for $0.50 makes up for other times when a deal doesn’t work.
Couponing can be fun, just always be prepared that the deal might not work, that you might have to argue, and that even at the end of the day you still might not get the deal. Hope you continue couponing!

There is also a $2.00 off Viva paper towels from the Sunday insert of the American Profile magazine. Sorry, not sure of the date it was in the paper (I think it was late August), but it doesn’t expire until 11/30.

I had a problem today at Walgreen’s–Head and Shoulder’s shampoo is advertised for $4.99 with $2 Register Rewards, I used a $1 off coupon and the machine wouldn’t print out the RR. The cashier called the manager who said that when you use a coupon, the RR won’t print out. He ended up giving me $2 cash, but doesn’t that sound like deceptive practices? Has anyone else had this problem? Is it a new policy at Walgreens?
Charlene says
Nina, yes I hear it all the time. It is deceptive. You will just need to be more vigiliant if you want to shop there. Watch the sales flyers for the occasions when they clearly post a manufacturer coupon on an item with a Register Reward- they do it all the time… then keep a copy of the ad and if they ever give you guff pull that out and ask for an explanation 😉

I am having trouble finding the Domino Sugar coupons. I’m only finding $1/2 or the wrong size. Are you SURE this is the right coupon & what area had it? I can’t even find it on ebay!! HELP!
Charlene says
Ok Jenn no reason to get upset. The coupon database lists the coupon as $.50 off 1lb. They also list another coupon as $.50/2 4lbs-5lbs. So if you checked your insert and you can not find the right coupon then there isn’t much that can be done. It could very easily have been a mistake by whomever entered that coupon into the database or the value and size restrictions could have been regional. I am sorry but I am not sure what I can do to help you. Coupons can vary tremendously by region and you can read more about that here:
http://myfrugaladventures.com/2010/01/reader-question-differences-in-newspaper-insert-coupons
There is no possible way to know precisely which coupon will be in which paper or to list out what coupons are specific to what area so the ones listed are generalized and you have to double check and see exactly what you got in your paper.
