There is a new savings program out there that is a very easy way to get cash back on purchases.
SavingStar is a coupon program but unlike normal coupons, your total doesn’t come off at checkout. Instead when you register your store loyalty cards (like Rite Aid or CVS or some grocery stores) and you purchase an item you have saved a coupon for, the coupon value goes into an account.
You never have to cut or print any coupons, you just save them to your account. Once you buy the item the value is in your account and you get a deposit for the value of the coupon within 7-30 days. (The time frame will depend on the store you shop at.)
There are over 100 retailers to choose from that are working with SavingStar and over 24,000 stores nationwide. Once you hit $5 in your account, you can cash out via Paypal, direct deposit to your bank account, Amazon gift card or you can donate the money to charity!
So really this is called a coupon but it is easier to think of these as a rebate.
This program launched a few months ago and it seems like they have ironed out a lot of the kinks. I am hearing some really great things from you guys about this so I would get all your store cards and get yourself registered with SavingStar.
The very important thing to remember is that the coupons they release are limited in number. So it is best to get the coupons saved to your account right away.
I checked and SavingStar is available to me at CVS, Rite Aid and Raley’s. It looks like Safeway might not be participating.
I can see some great coupons!
- Save $1.50 off CPK Pizza
- Save $1 off Skinny Cow Ice Cream
- Save $.50/2 Nestle Toll House Morsels
- Save $.50 Dannon Greek Yogurt
- Save $1/2 Juicy Juice
And lots more! Head over to SavingStar and it just takes a second to register your loyalty cards and then you can add the coupons to your account.

A lot of people are saying good things about this, but I have had a heck of a time getting any of the coupons I have used to post to my account. So far, I have had to contact them regarding every single receipt! I’m getting very frustrating. But, to be fair, I have not heard of anyone else having problems like mine, so I don’t know what I’m doing differently. I have been registering coupons through their mobile app, so maybe that has something to do with it.

Pleasant surprise! Got my first $.75 back from Saving Star. I wasn’t even ‘planning on it’ — I was at Nob Hill and needed a filler to get up to $20 for my Friday Freebie, so grabbed a clearanced Glad trash bags for $1.90 and it qualified for the $0.75 back! I guess it pays to load up your card, cause you never know!
Lori, I think mine took about 3 weeks to post, so maybe wait awhile.
