$5 Toy Story 3 DVD Coupon from Redbox

Reader Sherell noticed this morning that Redbox sent an email out saying you will get a $5 off Toy Story 3 coupon if you rent the movie while supplies last.  I went back through my deleted emails and sure enough mine said the same thing!

I really hope this works because the $8 coupon is for the Blu Ray combo pack but it looks like this $5 coupon will be for the DVD version which is on sale at all the drugstores this week!

I went out and rented a copy just now for $1.08 and I will let you know if I do get the $5 coupon.

*There are no specifics on the email at all regarding how the coupon is sent or where you can purchase it at.  This is exactly what my email said:

“Get $5 off the DVD or Blu-ray purchase of Toy Story 3 when you rent it.*

*Offer valid 11/2/10 to 11/15/10. Subject to availability. While supplies last. Coupon expires 11/30/10. © Disney.”

I am going to assume that you get emailed a coupon and that you can use it anywhere, but I will let you know for sure if mine does come.

UPDATE:  I spent a very long time on the phone with a person that was not the sharpest pencil in the bunch.  Apparently there is a link that you can use to purchase the DVD from Redbox for $15.  So this isn’t really a coupon at all plus there are apparently shipping fees. Boo Redbox for being very tricky with your marketing!  (I can’t pass along the link because after 12 minutes of having her spell it repeatedly, I still can’t pull up any sort of web site with this offer.)

I just emailed redbox to try and get more details on how you receive the coupon after you rent the DVD from redbox. I will post back if and when I hear back.

Yeah. I went and rented the DVD. Came home and the receipt was in my email. I called Redbox. They said that after the DVD is returned, I will receive an email with the $5 coupon code that can be used at the Redbox store online to purchase the DVD. I let them know that I thought that it was very deceiving since the details were not disclosed in my original email. BOO REDBOX!!!!!!! 🙁

Not cool Redbox. You detail the specifics of this promotion in a single sentence, and leave out some VERY important details. I too got snagged on this on Tuesday night (hoping to stack the $5 redbox coupon with the $8 DMR coupon). Redbox c.s. very quickly credited back the $1 plus tax for my movie rental, so no actual money lost, and I did get to keep our 4-disc br pack wrapped up for Christmas. 😉
