The Spice Kitchen, Everyday Cooking with Organic Spices is an interesting cookbook. I like the idea of using spices to jazz up basics like Mac and Cheese since we keep things pretty simple at our house. This cookbook has over 100 recipes that feature unique herbs and spices- the majority of the recipes are for classic foods like chicken pot pie and granola and yogurt but with a twist since you use new flavors. For example, I make a basic balsamic vinaigrette for salads all the time, but one of my favorite recipes in the Spice Kitchen was for Cinnamon-Balsamic Vinaigrette. Just the simple addition of cinnamon totally changed the flavor profile of something I have made a million times.
I bought this cookbook for my Dad who loves to dump any and every spice into his dishes. The book is loaded with pictures so it makes a nice gift. This would also be a fun idea for a basic cook that might want to add a little pizzazz to everyday meals. I found the recipes particularly interesting when we had guests over because everything just sounds so fancy- like Pear Cardamom Bread- so it sounds like you really went to a great deal of trouble.

This looks like a GREAT cookbook!
My husband would love for me to win this;) He’s always suggesting that I be more creative and add more spices to my cooking, but I’m always afraid to try because I’m afraid I’ll mess up our dinner.
Cool.I love putting a new twist on a classic.
I’m working on my cooking skills. Any cookbooks would help, I’m sure.
