We have a nice car seat for our toddler- it was important to me to find a quality product when we went shopping for car seats last year. But I have to tell you the seat we have doesn’t hold a candle to the Britax! I had heard great things about Britax and they came highly recommended but I was really impressed when I received the Marathon. The first thing that struck me is how soft the seat is- the fabric is very plush and velvety and so we have coined it the Lazy Boy. The straps are also flexible and soft- so it is extremely comfortable for my toddler. Our old seat had stiff straps that I would fight with but these are so easy! I can tell Adriana loves this seat and even better I feel so safe driving around with her in it.
The Marathon CS is suitable for children 5-65 pounds and has a number of superior safety features:
*Special chest pads with tread that creates friction against the chest to reduce forward movement in a crash. Now I can tell you these are very soft and not at all uncomfortable for your child.
*The car seat is plush because of the foam liner- not only is it more comfortable but also helps divert energy away from the child to protect them from injury. It also provides an additional barrier against flying objects in the event of a crash.
*The special 5 point harness which is designed to make contact with the strongest parts of the body. This ensures force from a crash is distributed to the strongest body parts.
*Click and Safe straps- which provide audible reassurance that the harness straps are tight enough. Loose straps are one of the largest causes of severe injury (or worse) for children.
These features are especially important to me since we have two car seats in our car. That means neither girl is in the center of the backseat, which puts both girls at higher risk of injury. 1 in 4 accidents is a side collision so having the most protection possible is very important to me.
So if you haven’t checked out Britax car seats- you are going to love them. You just can’t put a price on your child’s safety and I wish we would have purchased this from the start! We spent a heck of a lot more than $229 between our bucket seat and convertible car seat for products that simply weren’t as good.
