I did not realize this was a smart tip until it was recently pointed out to me that everyone does not already do this. Since I often shop loss leaders at the grocery store and use coupons to stock up on items when they are at the lowest price, it can be challenging to come up with a meal plan. I can’t always base the menu for the week on what sounds good as that may not be what’s on sale. I also tend to wind up with a lot of random items- like a mountain of Bertolli pasta sauce I was paid to buy a few months ago. There are only so many nights of spaghetti that one can take! So I make the items I buy work for their keep. I have found that many manufacturer’s have lovely web sites just loaded with wonderful recipes using their products as the primary ingredient.
In the example of Bertolli, they have a web site packed with recipes to give me inspiration. This saves me a tremendous amount of time in meal planning and I always have fresh ideas. If Bertolli did not have recipes on their site, I just think of a comparable big name pasta sauce- check out their site and voila! 9 times of 10 they have tons of ideas.
So there you have it- the smart girl’s guide to meal planning.
Thanks, great tip!
The few times I have looked for recipes at manufacturers' websites, I've found them to be usually quick and easy – just my thing!
