Additional Target Deals!

The great thing about Target is that even when it looks like a slow week extra deals crop up left and right- like this one that CommonSenseWithMoney uncovered today:

$4.98 for two boxes of Ziploc bags
Use BOGO coupon from 5/3 SS inserts
Use $0.40/1 any Ziploc bag from 5/10 SS insert
Use $1/1 Target coupon (or two if your store allows you to use more than 1 Target coupon per transaction)
Pay as little as $0.09 or $1.09 for two boxes of Ziploc bags

Wow! I thought I was hot stuff for getting Hefty bags for .30 yesterday at Safeway!

Thanks Mercedes!

    Hey Charlene,

I had a real problem at Target this weekend and as you have been doing this a lot longer than me, I thought you might have some more insight. I wanted to stock up on the Smart Ones sale and I had gotten 20 of the meals and then present 2 of the $4/10 coupons. The cashier refused to take them! I said they are manufacturers coupons not Target coupons, why can't you take them. She said the manager only wants them to take on coupon per item per transaction. I said that is true for your store coupons, but not manufacturers. She eventually took them to get me out of her line . . . but it was really rude in my book.

    Am I wrong? Thanks!

I don't think you were wrong- you bought 20 items and had 2 coupons. That seems more than reasonable to me. Whenever I have problems at Target in particular I do one of the following depending on the situation:

    1. Just pay for the items and then go to customer service and ask for a refund of the coupon amount.
    2. Politely ask to speak to the manager. I usually say I am unclear on the policy and want to make sure I understand.
    3. Ask the cashier to remove the items from your transaction. I usually find they are more willing to accept coupons when they realize they are losing a sale.

It might have just been a one off but if it happens again I would definitly ask for the manager. If that is indeed the store policy than you can either complain to corporate which probably won't be much help or stop shopping in that store. If nothing else, I would remember that cashier and avoid her in the future.

I am always polite but firm. I suppose you could have asked her to seperate the transactions- if I remember that was a gift card deal- so seperating the transaction would have worked your benefit as you could have used the gift card on the second transaction.

    Anyway, I hope that helps!

Thanks Charlene . .. that is very helpful. It is just good to know I am not crazy. Next time I will just do multiple transactions. But it was Saturday, crowded and I was in a hurry! ๐Ÿ™‚ That is a really good idea to use customer service to straighten things out when they don't want to do it.

I rarely have problems using coupons, I got hassled at Walgreens too over a coupon that was higher value than the item . .. but I had plenty of items so their wouldn't have been actual overage . . . but she refused it the same. Evidently it just wasn't my week!

Thanks for the help and your great site! Nicole
