I answered a reader’s question here last week on the real scoop behind Swagbucks and wanted to follow up with the details behind my first purchase.
For my first order- I used 5 gift cards for $5 each to Amazon and actually paid less than $5 for both items. The bucks took several days to get into my account and once they were there I just entered them in at checkout and they were credited with no problems. Most of the delay was just waiting for Amazon to ship.
I am getting ready to place another order for the printer I told you about here. Here is the drawback I have found with Swagbucks:
1. You can only request up to two gift cards a day.
2. It takes 4-7 BUSINESS days to get your gift cards applied to your account (assuming you order ecards like I did. They also have some that are mailed to you).
I requested (6) $5 gift cards- which took 3 days to request (since you can only request 2 per day). Apparently Swagbucks is behind in processing gift card orders so they still haven’t made it into my account. The first $10 I requested on 5/1 and those appeared yesterday. The second $10 I requested on 5/2 and they showed up today. While I have been waiting for the gift cards the printer has gone up from $89 to $119 at Amazon. Now I will have to wait for another sale to get my printer.
This has been a little frustrating but now that I understand how Swagbucks works, I will be better prepared for next time. I should have started requesting the cards as I earned them rather than waiting for them to build up in my account. It is still an incredible program and a very easy way to get free gift cards. If you are interested in Amazon in particular I would cash your bucks in as quickly as possible so they are ready to go as Amazon deals come and go so quickly.
