Good News (CVS) and Bad News (Walgreens).

The great news is that I stopped into my local Long’s Drugs and confirmed the transition to CVS is scheduled for May 20th! The change over of Long’s to CVS is scheduled to be complete in Oct 2009- so you might want to call your store and see if they have received word yet. I have never shopped at CVS before and I am very excited to finally score all the great deals I see posted.

The bad news is that Walgreens has confirmed they are ending the Easy Saver program in May. Deal Seeking Mom posted this email from Walgreens confirming April is the last month. Personally I do not care for the register rewards program at Walgreens as it is confusing and requires purchases in large increments (like $10). I hope they come up with something better to replace the Easy Saver otherwise CVS here I come!

PS: For local readers, my Long’s is in Rocklin, CA.

    You will love CVS!

We’re getting our first Walgreens here, so I was just about to read up on their program. I guess I’ll wait and see what they introduce. Thanks for the heads up.

Hi Gina- Wags has a lot of quirks that can be a headache with the number of items vs. coupons. It might be worthwhile to read up on the Register Rewards as it takes awhile to get the hang of it.

Carrie- I asked about the CVS products and was told they were running out of things and corporate wouldn’t allow any more Long’s brand purchases.

Oh, I hope ours changes over soon. My mom got a CVS in October, and I have been mailing her my coupons and she has buying things for me. Walgreens RR program is so much more difficult and confusing than the ECB program. Our Long’s didn’t have any idea the last time I checked, so hopefully ours will follow right after yours!

Our Walgreens put up a sign saying “Welcome Long’s Customers,” so I hope that is not meaning that our Long’s is closing. ๐Ÿ™
