Extreme Couponing 101

I have been getting more and more requests for coupon classes these days. I finally pulled together a comprehensive presentation to get you started on your own coupon adventure.

If you are located in the greater Sacramento area you can send an email to myfrugaladventures@ yahoo . com to discuss setting up a seminar.

Here are some of the things that we will cover in the classes.  Each class is typically 2 hours in length with a question and answer period after.

  • Understanding Extreme Couponing vs. Realistic Couponing
  • Where to Find the Best Coupons
  • Organizing Your Coupons
  • Menu Planning
  • Stacking Coupons
  • Coupon Overage and Moneymakers
  • Efficient Stockpiling

And much, much more!

If you have a group of 25 or more and would like to contact me to set up a seminar, the cost is $10 per person.  You will receive a pamphlet to take home with you with notes on all the topics discussed in class.

The fee is waived for Church Groups providing the class size is 25+.

Classes need to be in a public location and with internet access and connection to a projection screen or TV.

If you are interested in inquiring about organizing a coupon class please email me at myfrugaladventures@ yahoo . com.

Hi – I am looking for Walmart’s coupon policy and am having trouble finding it. Can you point me in the right direction?

Charlene December 9, 2010 at 8:38 PM

I wish I could Nancy but I have never seen one.

Robin December 17, 2010 at 2:56 PM

I live in San Jose and my Walmart takes ALL manufacture coupons.

Mary December 21, 2010 at 11:55 AM

I am in the market for a new dryer. Any suggestions on how I can get the best deal possible and where?
Thank you!

Hi all,
Regarding the Walmart coupon policy. I just did a google search and it came up for me. I was able to print it off and tuck it in with my coupons because Walmart can be one of the most difficult places to use coupons. If I am sure my coupon should be honored, I just hold strong and smile a lot.

I received a $5 off next $25 purchase coupon from Save-a-lot and was wondering if they take other coupons? I know most of their product are generic but I have seen a few name brands like Libby, hillshire farms and even bordon. If they do then I know I could save buying things with my coupons that will not double at the grocery store. Since they are already cheap then I think I can find the best savings.

Anyone know if they take coupons????

Rebecca June 1, 2011 at 4:38 PM

Anyone live in San Diego. I’m looking for a coupon buddy. I am just starting out.

Kristie June 3, 2011 at 10:20 AM

Thresa ~Don’t know what area you live in & don’t know if it even matters, all Save-A-Lots may have the same policies, I don’t know, but I live in Centerville Tennessee & I know for a fact my Save-A-Lot store takes coupons, if that helps any. I too got a coupon for $5 off $25 or more purchase & I was so excited!!! The problem I have is, the area I live in is very small & only have Save-A-Lot & a Chappell’s. When I shop at Save-A-Lot there’s no coupons for their off brands & Chappell’s prices are expensive, no in store savings card, & dont double coupons, so it’s just difficult to do much couponing without driving 45min-1&1/2hrs to get the good deals.

Charlene~ I’m pretty new to couponing, & would appreciate any advice or ideas anyone might have & I just wanna say,”THANK YOU Charlene” for creating this website & for teaching it in a way that’s easy & understandable. I have researched for, & on many websites & this one is by far, THE BEST!

Charlene,
Just found your site today and I love it! I do have a question about using the Cellfire site. I live in the Bay Area and there is no option for putting in my Safeway Club Card, yet the other Safeway companies, like Vons, can be entered. I tried to put in my Safeway card under Vons, being it is a CA company and it wouldn’t take. Any help is appreciated. Thank you in advance. And thanks for all the work you put into this site!!

This is the first time I have seen your site and it is awesome!! Years ago my kids use to tease me because I would have stockpiles of deodorants, toothpaste, anything non-parishable. But nothing I had di I spend over 50cents for, most were free or 25 cents. I did this about 4 years ago and with moving and other such things that happened got out of the habit. Just this year I had to buy toothpaste and shampoo. It has been awhile and glad to see there are more ways than what I used to save money!! Thanks so much for the info on CVS, it has been so helpful!!

Charlene,
You came and spoke at our church (in Stockton) at the beginning of the month. Thank you for taking of your time to come educate us on couponing! I learned so much, and I am anxious to start putting the things I learned into practice! (I am the one with the HUGE binder spending WAY TOO MUCH on my weekly grocery bill!) I have started tracking the pricing and I am going to cut our grocery bill 10% each week. I would like to get it down to $50.00/week! Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Amber September 21, 2011 at 10:31 PM

They are having a deal at cvs today. Spend $25 on huggies snug dry, and you get $10 cash back, plus if you can find a $3 coupon, like I had. I walked out of there with 3 packs size 4 count 31 of Huggie snug dry diapers for $12. That’s 96 for $12. I think that’s a good deal for that brand. This coupon thing is fun.

Pauline October 9, 2011 at 12:32 PM

Where does Sacramento area Walmart distribute it’s weekly ad? I live in Grass valley and have a Bee subscription but never see it. Then when I try to use deals on various sites the prices aren’t what I see in store.

Thanks!

Charlene October 9, 2011 at 6:39 PM

Pauline, the ad is available online. I think you might look at what sites you are consistently finding deals that are not available to you and either stop reading those sites or ask the blog owner for help. I know a ton of people did not read my super detailed post last week about the Scrubbing Bubbles cleaner and then they had problems in the store. So that could be the issue- you have misunderstood or maybe the blogger was not clear. You might also be reading sites that are not entirely credible too and that is something else entirely. I see tons of Walmart deals posted for products that simply don’t exist- like 1 lb dog food, travel size vitamins and cold medication etc.. etc… That is a credibility factor with the blogs- they are posting things they have not verified and they are wasting people’s time with stuff no one will find. Hope that helps,

Pauline October 9, 2011 at 8:15 PM

Thanks, Charlene. Am thinking I might suggest you as a guest speaker for our local MOPS group. :)

cheryl December 30, 2012 at 9:56 AM

hey charlene, just wanted to give you a heads up that the simple pleasure chocolates and the glade sense and spray kits coupons on coupon.com reset. i found that the kits last week at right aid must have been a typo because they rang up at 9.99 but the store manager adjusted them down because of the ad typo i didn’t get the up reward but thats ok with me because @.99 thats still a steal and the manger was super nice they could have chose to refuse the deal so either way i was happy. my mother and law visited for the holdiay and liked mine i already had so i let her take it back to hawaii since everything is almost double the cost as it is here so i replaced mine with the deal.

Pam April 1, 2014 at 10:37 AM

Hi Charlene – I am in the Roseville, CA area and want to learn the most efficient way to coupon and am looking for a spreadsheet already made to plug in my weekly purchases to be able to compute before I go to the store. One with quantity, price, sales tax and then total by item. Is there such a thing out there in the coupon world? Thanks!

Charlene April 1, 2014 at 12:20 PM

Hi Pam, that sounds like something that you could make really fast in Excel. I don’t know of one designed already with exactly what you are looking for. I’d say you would probably want to just make the sheet yourself and then it will have everything you want.
